@@degree1996 Android uses it's own version of the linux kernel forked fron main linux kernel a fuckton of years ago. No to mention that it still functions in a very different way from your average gnu-linux distros. Even the filesystem is different (even if still being based on FHS) and the user has no acces to anything above the sd card directory

My guess is that the ram usage is that high because the swipe thingy on the bottom doesn’t close applications, it just minimizes them.

Just a very quick note without needing to watch even the first second of this video: JingOS is NOT the world's first Linux-based Tablet OS. That goes to Android - Android IS Linux, as is Mac OS/iPadOS/iOS, they all utilise the same base code in their kernels. The main difference behind the scenes is what code in the Kernel runs on top of that base code

I actually tried it too and while WPS Office was not working correctly for me (as the preinstalled office suite) I’m actually exited for the Arm version. I might even use it as my daily driver for my Phone if they put out an open source version and they get Android apps to run well on JingOS with Anbox or whatever they’re using.

My suggestion for JingOS rapid adoption : #1 A superior version of Anbox where Android apps can run on a linux OS #2 Make JingOS run on ARM, x86 and possibly MIPS and work on both touch devices and kb/mouse interface

JingOS is coming along nicely, but it is definitely not the first linux OS for tablets. Android and ChromeOS have both been on tablets for years. Both are linux-based.

3 GB of Ram is too much for me. I am looking for something like Puppy Linux for Arm. I have two very cheap small tabletts (mpman) with only one GB of ram and I would like to put real Linux on it. From China --- Forget it then. Spent 20 years fly big planes into Beijing, China (retired). There are enough human man made gain of function viruses floating around in China, and thanks to China now in America. It's beyond me why anyone would want a China tablet operating system setup with built-in spyware. My new plan. I will start working on restoring an old iPad 3 from a host machine via ssh to compile Linux From Scratch (LFS). I have built a few Linux Gentoo systems in the last couple of years which run flawless. :)
