The Jinhao 80 suffers from Lamy 2000 comparisons. It is a solid pen that delivers value for the price. It also has nib interchangeability for Lamy style nibs. I have 10 so far and may have more. This is the pen I gave my children as an introduction to fountain pens along with Waterman inks. Just a terrific pen that has a well-functioning snap cap and a nib that is easuly modified. I did the black mib swap you mentioned, it is fantastic. Well Done!!!

Now that I have my Lamy LX medium black nib on this pen I really enjoy it. Nothing wrong with the nib it came with though.

Great review, thanks !! I have a few J-80’s in various colors, all great writers, two I have swapped the nibs for Lamy nibs. All excellent!!

This is my favorite Jinhao pen to use at home. It's comfortable, light, posts snuggly, comes standard with a converter, and I like the nib. Wish the converter held a little more ink and that it came in a medium nib, but for the price it's an enjoyable writer.

Fully agree, I am pleasantly surprised with this pen so far.

The nib has nothing to do with a #Lamy nib!

Good afternoon from West Michigan, USA. I recently purchased this pen and I am really happy with it. It's well made, writes good and you can't beat the price. I recommend it. Roger

I was looking for reviews on this pen when KZbin recommended your video, just published at the right time. Thanks for the accurate review it was very useful. I would like to ask you if in the future you might also review the HERO H605, another Chinese pen that I personally find interesting.

I don't have one of those, but will keep an eye out and if I find one, I will definitely review it.

With a Lamy safari nib, it writes very much like a high-end European pen. Chinese affordability and European quality. The best of both worlds

thanks for a great review. I have a few of these and they are great. You can get any number of nibs (Lamy style) from ali express, from extra fine to broad, to stubs and architect type nibs. My favorite is a 1.1 stub and the feed keeps up without issue. I did have one that would dump ink and after inspecting the supplied converter with a loupe, found a hairline split, fixed by replacing the converter with a new one.

I love the 1.1 stubs and can't wait to fit it and give it a go.

Thank you for showing us these pens I've been thinking about them and I'm glad I saw your video, I just ordered two of these for 10 USD from Amazon I can't wait for them to arrive I have wondered if I can use a Lamy safari nib with this pen?

I just put a Lamy Lx nib on my Jinhao 80 and it writes really well. It was a little tricky to remove the Jinhao nib, it was really on tight. But the Lamy nib went on smooth and with no issues.

@@onemorepen fantastic I will try that if I can find a Lamy LX nib. I have plenty of Safari nibs though. Thank you

Have 2 of them & switched out with real Lamy Medium & Fine nibs . Now a superb writer. Lamy 2000 is so overpriced!

I had a couple of them, there were issues with the clips and also drained the ink. I had no luck with this model.

It looks a steal for the overseas prices.

Like other commenters it is one of my favorite pens. The 03 nib is my absolute favorite on my Koi model of this pen.

FYI it's a clone of the old Lamy 80 not the Lamy 2000

Ah, thanks for the info, I was not aware. I don't know all the Lamy pens, but now that I look at it, you are right. Thanks for correcting me.

Hoe gaan dit met jou ?Yes, Lamy nibs fit perfectly; and the feed keeps up with 1.1 stub. Having said that, the original 'F' nib on my pen was perfectly acceptable. I slipt a 7mm (ID)x1mm(cross section) black 'O' ring on the feed/barrel screw which effectively secures the barrel from unintentional loosening (which it's apt to do); it gives it a nice positive feel too so over-tightening/stressing is no problem. It doesn't interfere with the cap seating/sealing either. The pen takes a Long Parker (1.4mL) cartridge too - I push the cartridge in manually rather than try to 'screw' it down with the barrel (as on Lamy Safari, or Parker 25) - there's 2 mm clearance of the inserted cartridge and the inside of the fully seated barrel. I've refilled the parker cartridge using syringe maybe a dozen times and the seating is still good. The Long Parker cartridge also has a useful 'reserve' ---> surface tension/capilliary at the thin end, which a flick of the finger liberates to the bottom of the cartridge.

Dit gaan voor die wind. Thanks for the great feedback, the original nib is quite good, but I already tried it with a nib from my Lamy LX and that makes a great writer.

I have two Jinhao 80s . They are good pens for the price. I also have a Kaco Edge (m) which I reach for more. The Kaco is a bit more expensive but it feels closer to using a Lamy 2000 in my hand.

I will have to get a Kaco

I have an 80, and like it well -- and was thinking as well that I'd like to put a Lamy stub nib onto it. I don't generally post pens for writing, but I do like to post the 80. My only concern is to wonder how well the plastic will hold up over time. If the pens remain available at so low a price, perhaps that won't matter anyhow. I might add that your remark at the end, that you now are viewing the Lamy 2000 in a better light because of this Jinhao, is why makers of high end pens should not worry that Chinese imitations are successful. That said, my Wing Sung/Jun Lai 630 with a 14K nib is so good that why would I pay hundreds more just to get a white "snow cap"?
@onemorepen24 күн бұрын
Thank you for commenting. Yes, ultimately I think we should be less concerned with the brands and just enjoy the pens.
