I feel like the cleans in this should be performed in a sequin dress, accompanied by an orchestra, in front of a black-tie crowd. Then she juxtaposes them against those gutteral growls. Awesome stuff. At every stage of their evolution, they've managed to create music that is great and fun to listen to. They didn't replace the 2nd guitarist because the band is like a family, bound together by their shared culture and traumas. They said there were a lot of good guitarists that could have done the job technically, but none quite fit with the band on that family-level. And their new sound is built to optimize around the single guitar and 5-string bass. Some of their songs they use a backing track to replace the 2nd guitar, Who Is Gonna Be The One they entirely re-composed to work with just the guitar and bass, making it slower and more threatening which feels more powerful.

There was a rumor last year that Dmitriy was seen rehearsing the new songs, and that he was going to rejoin for their 2019 spring tour. Obviously, that was just an internet rumor, but I would love to see him come back. He was so charismatic and brought a lot of energy to their live performances. On a side note, Jeffrey, have you seen the old promo they shot with him chasing Tatiana on all fours "back-bend" style? It's hilarious.

theres an intervierw where eugene talks about the one guitarist situation and how they try to compensate it but jeff fisher summarized it very well as always. always looking forward to your comments by the way. you are truely the no 1 fan out there.

Sometimes I just wake up with that chorus playing in my head cause it's just that catchy! Those guitar riffs you're referring to make me think of bands like A7X, Bleeding Through and early Asking Alexandria.

Now this definitely IS one of their older songs, haha. This is off their first album (Inhale, do not Breathe) from before they were signed to a label, around 2010 I think. If you liked that one you will definitely like the entire album. All the songs on that album have a somewhat similar sound and structure

Hell yes, this is oldschool but still fkn amazing and good, I love it! And it's also amazing to see how they evolved over time, not only in skills but also in style. Jinjer just never disappoints. I'm really looking forward to see you checking out their songs Retrospection and Home Back of their newest album Macro, those are my favorites if I really had to choose, but honestly I couldn't even decide. Keep 'em coming, cheers!

Another great reaction. I kind of wish they would get a second guitarist again. They use a backing track when playing live to fill in certain parts. Would much rather them have a second guitarist again. But all that being said their style has changed so it's not needed as much on the new songs but the older ones live need that backing track or a second guitarist to sound correct.

This is a REALLY great song, and the song that officially made me go from 'liking some of Jinjer's songs', to "Jinjer is my new favorite band'. It's a shame they won't play it anymore. I think they burned out on it, or maybe it's hard with 1 guitarist, and Tatiana's voice is deeper and matured, and she is pretty high pitched here so it might be hard to sound the same. Who knows.

This is my favorite song from this album. I can’t swear that I’d have liked it if I’d heard it before more recent stuff. It’s how I discover music. Hell, I didn’t get into Slayer years ago until Christ Illusion grabbed me, then I worked my way through their discography from there. Great reaction as always.

if you loved this one, you will like Scissors, too. Oh, let me add: as you hardly comment on the lyrics of these songs, you seem to care more about the instrumentals and vocals. Nevertheless, I suggest checking out the lyrics first. Enjoy ; )

Since Jeffrey and Paz already pointed out two of the three things I was about to comment on, here's the 3rd: meet Alexander Koziychuk, Jinjer's 2nd drummer. He recorded the Inhale, Don't Breathe album but left the band in April 2013 for personal reasons, being replaced by Eugene Mantulin, who was already playing with them as a session musician and accepted becoming a full-time member. : )

They are from Moldova, and are friends with Jinjer and stylistic fellow-travelers who started a year before Jinjer IIRC. Their older stuff has more hip hop influences and a mix of false cord growls and fry screams as well as beautiful clean singing. Their newest album forgoes the growls which gives their singer Lena a sound that is kinda like a more femme version of Tatiana, IMO. Her false cord growls sound nothing like whatever it is that Tatiana does though - primal, animalistic, alien, I don't know the word haha. Black Gold is brand new and great. They have a bunch of good stuff in their back catalog like Mold and Orphan Soul.
