jinjer improved sooo much... and: they do not only write great songs... they are inspirating, make people happy and Vlad (the drummer) is an inspiration and a motivator to train your own drum skills... thaks jinjer for this!

Wow! Excellent breakdown and analysis. They are truly masters of their craft, lyrically and musically. In my opinion, Someone's Daughter and Kafka are on par with this one. Rogue is a beast of a song that hits you full throttle and never lets up. This album is shaping up to be their best work yet I believe. Thank you!

I have loved Jinjer for 8 years because this band makes no musical compromises, neither in the song structures, nor in the time signatures, nor in the lyrics > Jinjer makes Jinjer music and sometimes they overwhelm the listeners, and that's a good thing, including me, even though I have been a musician myself for over 40 years, albeit in other musical genres, acid jazz, rock, funk, underground rap. And I'm first and foremost a music lover and what Jinjer does is sometimes out of this world.....!!!! Maybe next song from their new album: Someone's Daughter (Official Video) Kafka (Official Video) Rogue (Official Video) > the banger > pure power thanx for your professionelle reaction and warm greetings from germany > subbed

I was going to make a comment but you said it all. I just want to say I love this song and Tati is the whole package.I love the fact that Jinjer is not a cookie cutter commercial band.

The Official Video for "Kafka" is actually a Lyric Video.

Great reaction / analysis of an awesome new Jinjer song! Subbed. Tati seldom taps into her gorgeous head voice, so this song is a real treat in that regard. Lots of fantastic melodic choices. Love the musical composition. Instant classic!

Good analysis, very interesting. The lack of traditional ("normal") musical furniture in lots of Jinjer tracks is one of the things I find attractive. I used to get goose bumps down my back and head when Tati went into her harsh vocals. Things have changed over the years, now I get those tingles on her clean vocals too. I don't know why but there's something in her voice that bypasses my neocortex and speaks directly to my hind brain.

Thanks for the great review! Personally, their new song Kafka really hits me strong. I think you should do a review of this one! Really enjoyed Green Serpent and Someone’s Daughter also. Rogue is definitely a great one. Can’t wait to hear the rest. I loved and respect Jinjer so much, they are phenomenal!

I just wanted to add the way you say how her voice slithers around like an actual snake with the melody, this is what you would say is a perfect example of word painting! Tatiana wasn’t kidding when she said this album was going to have heavy classical music elements. Bravo 👏

Thank you. I've never heard this term before so I appreciate you bringing it up, it's so useful to know!

@ of course! Opera and Gregorian chant music had so much word painting hundreds of years ago. It’s nice to see bands still pay homage to music’s roots in history.

I'm not certain of the time length but I think Tatiana is two years sober at this point. I'm told that in Ukraine and perhaps Slavic culture in general the "Green Serpent" is indeed alcoholism.

Tati has been looking very healthy for a while now... you can see it in her face.

Basically 'zelenaya zmeya', 'green snake', is a poetic reference to Vodka, since it's the go-to alcohol in Russia. It's understood in Russia and Ukraine ('zelenniy zmiya') but only there. Polish, Czech and Slovak languages don't know this connotation.

One thing that me and you differ on is their studio work. There are only two songs that didn't hit me hard hearing the studio version first. That's bad water and cloud factory. I just don't like the studio version of either of those songs. But hearing those two songs live hits different. Does Jinjer sound better live? Most bands that know what they're doing, sound better live. Some sound better in studio. But with every song besides those two they always hit me hard I became a fan listening to their studio recordings. Their live stuff just takes what's already great in the studio and makes it better. IMHO
