“War... War never changes and it never stops. No matter how much grief, misery, suffering and pain it brings there will always be individuals who either reap the benefits or just relish in it's power. They will drive others to march and kill in the name of... for the sake of... if we look really closer... nothing. It is really hard for me to embrace how people in 21st century still believe that there is something to fight for on any battlefield. We all depend on a few major economies in the world and their national currencies. We all are at keystrokes length through the Internet. Andyet... every day people are driven to kill their true brothers and sisters on our one and common land we call Earth. Then 2020 comes around and there is a glimmer of hope that this might be a turning point. That a common threat will unite all of us and this might be the beginning of a new era... but no. They still march and kill. Every war is a tragedy and a crime against the humanity in my opinion. No matter what your beliefs or ideologies are, nothing justifies taking homes, health and lives of innocent children who inevitably suffer in every military conflict. Imagine hundreds of thousands of refugee children around the globe screaming at once: I want my home back!”

But it's quite specific about their homes in the occupied by ruSSia part of Ukrainian region Donbass, and Jinjer are basically refugees, who fled their hometown first to Lviv and then to Kyiv.

Sadly few people ever get the message of this song... There is a full-fledged war going on in their home country, and most reactors only talk about her voice, and how good the band is - completely ignoring the lyrics and story behind. So thank you for actually listening! Well done!

Only Jinjer can have such a heavy, deep meaning song that transitions into a jazzy bridge section. Such great musical arrangement to go with awesome lyrics. But when Tati goes into that low growl at the final section it's amazing. Several male growling singers just felt their balls shrivel up when she went that low. They have quickly become my favorite band. Keep up the awesome reactions. I'd love to check out your band live sometime when the world settles down.

It's so great that you bring up what this song is about. Apart from how amazing this band is, you know Roman on the guitar, Eugene on the bass, Vlad on the drums, and Tati especially with her amazing vocals. Her lyrics are truly exceptional and things she has to say can be so deep. This song is one of them and most people unintentionally missed that.

The entire purpose of this song and video is to deliver Jinjer's vital message of the lyrics. My take: People the world over, we've got to do better. Kick out and reject tyrannical, corrupt, greedy leaders that bring poverty and war to the people while building their own bank accounts. We can make the world peaceful and prosperous starting with or own country. Vote 'em out NOW and put in true leaders with integrity and ideas that build, not destroy to enrich themselves! If you don't have any, become one yourself and run for office!

The “angel” is an interesting image. It only really makes sense if you’ve seen a low flying fighter shooting flares to evade SAMs or MANPADS, so the idea that children would describe a fighter like that is extra heartbreaking.

I noticed that most of western fans don't catch the whole message of this song properly. It's not the song against russian invasion. It's the antiwar song. Literally it's a song from the "basement floor" point of view where people are hiding from the artillery fire. Don't you know that lots of patriotic people in Ukraine perceive this song as anti-ukrainian? As well as the band in whole actually.

I love Jinjer. I’ve watched every one of their videos and most of the reactions multiple times. I haven’t seen anyone as emotionally crushed by the end of this song as I was - until I saw your reaction, Suzi. You get it. It’s as if Tati bared her soul for us and vented her rage. If I were a religious person, I would pray with all my heart that the situation gets resolved soon. But if there was any positive outcome from this insanity, it would be the production of Jinjer. It seems that tortured souls produce the most magnificent works of art.

To add some context, they aren't just from Ukraine. They're from Donetsk, which is not just the location of some of the heaviest fighting in the latest Russian invasion, but has been effectively under a proxy war since 2014. They most likely left their homes with explosions and gunfire going off in close proximity. :*( Here's hoping it ends soon, and they can get their Home Back.

It's just "Ukraine", without any "the". And Jinjer's hometown Gorlivka is in the occupied by ruSSia part of Ukrainian region Donbass. Basically, Jinjer are refugees who fled after the occupation to Lviv and then moved to the capital, Kyiv, but their families are still struggling in the occupied zone, which ruSSia looted, destroyed and turned into a lawless zone of devastation and terror, with 7-year-long curfew, ruined economy, unemployment, and rule of criminals under ruSSian military control.
