Honestly, in my opinion, Eugene is the best bassist in metal right now. Those riffs are both technical and catchy as hell. This band, while they like being technical, clearly care about songwriting very much. Great stuff.

that's because it's actually a low A, they tune ADGCF. He's got a slightly longer scale with a slightly lighter string set. He splits the signal, so the string tension emphasizes the rattle, and the lower note harmonics go to a subwoofer chain for the beastly rumble. his control of how hard he attacks the string is the real gem, because when he plays light on a light string it sounds very classical, but when he bears into a looser string, it gives it a sharper attack for the aggressive parts.
