I just use a cardboard box, a 4" 200cfm fan, some ducting and a lot of duct tape. I spray paint every day and I never have to deal with paint fumes or dust from hand sanding small parts. This is way nicer though especially if you don't have a need for a paint booth daily and don't want something that big taking up so much room.

Wouldn't some sort of filter fabric be better if you're using it for paint? Those particles will stick to your fan blades pretty fast and build up, resulting in vibration issues over time.
@szaibot4 жыл бұрын
And if u want to build something like this, try to find extractor with engine outside of the tube, paint fumes ale flamable and can ignite from engine ;/
@overmerce4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's the way to the fan's quick death. It must have filter in coming stream or situated outside it. But in general, idea is interesting.
@samuelfellows69233 жыл бұрын
And weirdly - there is already a extractor fan in his wall, why does the extractor/spray paint booth need its own fan when he is plumbing it into an external one? Both will get damaged - it needs filtration and whatever he is extracting with it will be blown outside

Yes. I painted a full size car and built a temporary paint booth. The fan lasted long enough to complete the job. Three stage paint and nasty VOC fumes. I used a HEPA filter to reduce particulates. If I do it again I will run the exhaust fan via belt drive. That way I can use a solvent to remove paint from the fan blades. Using an AC motor to prevent arcing(explosion)from DC motor brushes. This foldable paint booth has a well designed plenum. 🧠

0:45 Those screws seem really annoying. Seems like it would be easier to have half of the ring fixed, and the other half on a hinge and latch which you can just open and swing out of the way when installing the fan. You'd probably have to make it thicker and more heavy duty. If you are worried about that half of the ring not being screwed down you could make some sort of keyhole slot things which could grab some low profile bolt heads so that way that half of the ring would still have solid support.

@mulderx25253 жыл бұрын
great job,just add a panel filter on the top inside of this box, a filter between two grids for example , close to the motor intake. and it will be perfect.and your motor will last longer.and paint or other particules wont go anyway.

What a creative and skilled guy! Such an inspiration and great videos! Just have one question for you DUI people: What kind/kinds of "double-sided (easy) removable tape" have your tried and would you recommend? The ones I've tried have been very expensive AND horrible to remove!! Now I'm using normal "masking tapes" (used for painting, etc) and folds them so they work as double-sided tape, as it's cheap, very easy to use and to remove without any trace of the used glue/adhesive on wood, tools, etc. But I still would like a good double-sided tape :) Be creative and careful out there (y)

Paint can stays in your other rooms if your main ventilation fan is less powerful. And your fan bearing will collect all paint and will rotate slower and louder. You uploaded the video 2 years ago. How does it work know?

Какой диаметр вентилятора, и характеристики, обороты и сколько кубов воздуха в минуту производит!?
@overmerce4 жыл бұрын
