regarding sa filling naman, since nag gagawa po ko special siomai, nag tweak lang ako konti nilagyan ko sesame oil, very very small hint of anise, whole raw egg sa mixture at itlog na maalat nilagay ko. it turned out very satisfying at delicious. ala nga lang sauce. nag mix n lng ako oyster sauce, cornstarch, sugar, ketchup, hot sauce. anyway thank u sa tutorial nyo. very helpful and rewarding. keep safe po and god bless

Gumawa ako today and it really taste good. Soft and texture ng dough. Same talaga siya ng siopao na natikman ko sa Zamboanga. Salamat sa pagshare ng recipe. Hindi ko lang nilagyan ng cornstarch and filling at kinalahati ko lang ang isang itlog.

Hello, Ji! I already had a filling recipe and was just searching for a siopao dough recipe. I'm so happy that I stumbled upon your channel! Your recipe delivered on taste and texture! It was so soft and fluffy! It was so good that I swear I could eat the steamed dough even without the filling. 😋 The five minutes of kneading is so critical to give the dough that elasticity before rising. The only changes I made was to use 2-1/4 cups of apf plus a little extra for rolling after rising and I steamed the buns immediately after I made them for approx for 15-mins. I made mini siopaos, about half the size in your vid. So delicious! Thank you so much for sharing! 😀

Thank you for this recipe! My family loved it yesterday! For some who are about to try this recipe you can add 2 cups of flour first then see if it is just the right moisture. I did 2 1/2 at first and it was way too dry. Sometimes it depends on the quality of your yeast and the humidity where you are located.

I like that you included the part where the dough is in its sticky stage when kneading. I always worry when I try recipes for the first time and my dough turned out sticky. I feel like I did something wrong and its such a waste to try it again. Gonna try this tmr 🤤🤤😍

Its normal the dough to be sticky..you just have to garnish some flour..so it will not stick while you kneading the dough..

I used white king brand for AP flour,any brand of good quality white sugar,calumet brand for baking powder,any brand of cooking oil,make sure the water is warm not hot..it will kill the yeast if you use hot..if you have more question feel free to ask ill gladly answer you...thank you

Our family used to eat lots of these when we were young because our Mom and Dad always visited Chinatown to purchase them in their string-wrapped pink box. Ahhhhh......nothing like a well-made siopao (or more) for dim sum or lunch food when traveling somewhere new!

Hi! This recipe looks so good and I really want to try it! I have a couple of questions though. Do you have any metric measurements for the ingredients? If not, how did you measure your flour? By scooping and leveling or by spooning it in? Thank you!

Ji’s Kitchen great! Also, is there any way I can prep these beforehand and steam when I’m ready. For example after the second rise and the Huns have been filled, can I put them in the fridge or freezer until I’m ready to steam them?

Devon Montecillo if you want to preserve the buns...all you have to do is steam..and let it cool down put in a ziplock then put in the freezer..you can resteam the buns if you want to eat...you can preserve the buns up to 2-3weeks..
