She does have a side project, just not in music (yet) but while Rosé and Lisa were releasing their solo work in 2021, Jisoo was the lead actress in a k-drama on Disney+ called Snowdrop for which she has been awarded for her amazing acting which is incredible all on its own, but when you consider that it was her first serious acting role it somehow gets even more astounding. On the music front, Blackpink tends to release one project at a time. First it was Jennie in 2018, then Rosé in the first half of 2021 and Lisa in the second half of 2021. Jisoo is coming next. We don't know when officially (supposedly coming next year) but it's very much guaranteed that it is happening. Meanwhile tho she has some amazing covers, such as "Yuki No Hana" a japanese song (yes, she sang in japanese as well) and her most recent cover is "Liar" which she has been performing on tour and even did a collab stage with Camila Cabello in their concert in LA. Edit: also, she was asked to sing the OST of Snowdrop but she refused because she didn't want fans to focus on her singing a new song instead of the story which would inevitably happen because everyone has been waiting for her solo music and she came into Snowdrop already being their most famous cast member.

Jisoo has such a distinct voice. This is a song she has been singing since trainee audition days. She did it as an audition piece. But she is really comfortable hitting those high notes. Jisoo has a very 'adult' voice. It's got the slightest rasp that gives her an older/wiser quality. I wish they would give her more solo time. Her English wasn't very good back in the beginning, but she has grown and learned so much in the past six years. When you get back into the BP group songs, I can't wait till you do 'Ice Cream'. Don't forget subtitles, although it will be hard to tear your eyes away from the visuals.

Things are different in Korea. As famous and wealthy as Blackpink are now, they had to train 4+ years to be picked to debut, and they had to sign a 7-year contract that gave a lot of control of their careers to their company. It's not just Jisoo's solo work that's been delayed; Rosé wanted to release solo music for at least 2 years before she was allowed to. Also, Rosé and Jennie flew to LA to work on music for their Born Pink album... and then those songs weren't allowed in the album, even though there were only 6 new songs on it. Jisoo actually has the most writing credits for their music in the group currently, so if it was as simple as "write a song and release it," she might have several solos by now. Instead, the company delayed their album so much and packed their world tour so heavily that fans are wondering if there's even a possible window for her to release and promote solo work prior to their contract ending in August. It may be a situation where the company won't move forward with Jisoo's solo unless she agrees to re-sign with them, so fans are extremely upset.

Tells you everything you need to know about Blackpink: Jisoo gets the least lines and least screen time on BP MVs and is the last member to get her solo project, despite having a beautiful unique voice (consensus second in Blackpink, some even rank her as No. 1 for stability and harmonies), ranked as the Most Beautiful Woman in the World 2022 (British magazine Nubia), is considered the epitome of Korean beauty standards, is an award winning Lead Actress for her 13 episode Kdrama, has Dior and Cartier in bidding wars to have her be their Global Ambassador since she has possibly the greatest marketability of any Blackpink member in Asia (including China, India and Korea). Yet, she never complains or grips about it and only says things like "everyone has a role to play to make Blackpink successful," meaning someone is going to get the short end of the stick, and that is typically Jisoo, nevertheless she makes it work.
