Ingornace at it's finest. You don't even need to be flexible to get into rubber guard. Just have good position.
@BrutafulStudios01
@BrutafulStudios01 9 жыл бұрын
You're kidding right? I trained for a year with Bravo DT LA HQ. Flexibilty is stressed, most big guys 200+ are not flexible and struggled.
@88unstopable
@88unstopable 9 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't believe you trained there. If you did/do then why talk crap about 10th planet? Of course flexibility is stressed it's Jiu-jitsu. Does being flexible make movement easier? Of course. That doesn't mean it's impossible to complete certain movements if you're not that flexible. You just need to get a better position. An omoplata is certainly one.
@BrutafulStudios01
@BrutafulStudios01 9 жыл бұрын
So now you accuse me of talking crap about 10th Planet? First off, my original comment> "10th Planet Black Belt (which Rogan is). Nice to see him (Rogan) using that Bravo rubber guard flexibility that most big men don't have". Tell me where in that sentence I said anything bad about 10th Planet? Would never happen so stop resorting to putting words in my mouth. That shits weak. 10th P was and is the Best camp I've ever been a part of. Here IS what I said. A person needs flexibility to get into mission control and most big men have trouble with it. "You don't have to be flexible to get into rubber guard"? Bigger heavyweights and big dudes Rogan's size had a much harder time getting mission control. Was that because they were just unable to, like you say, "get good position"? Bullshit. Flexibility is essential. Why are the top students like Boogeyman Martinez, Shinya Aoki (yes he was DT getting tips & instruction), Ben Eddy, & Eddie himself able to put their legs behind their heads? Eddie always stressed the importance of flexibility. So be careful who you call ignorant, chump.
@88unstopable
@88unstopable 9 жыл бұрын
LOL Rogan isn't big hes about Bravos height. So you putting him with heavy weights is a joke. Like I said flexibility helps. If you're solely relying on your flexibility to get you though a technique you're practicing jiu-jitsu wrong. It's not bullshit if you're not able to get into mission control you need to turn your hips more. Get your body in a better position to complete the technique. Chump

***** That match was a draw. If the rules are no points you can't decide that he "dominated" when the official result is a draw. The whole point of BJJ is to not get hurt while fighting bigger opponents. If you can stay rested and tire your opponent out and not get hurt , you win. That is the entire point of gracie BJJ as it was developed outside of MMA by a relatively skinny/smaller man named Helio Gracie and Luiz França and Oswaldo Fadda. Real Brazilian-located BJJ matches are usually all about submissions and defending against them. They aren't about who touched the mat the most or who got 2 more hits in than another guy. If you don't make your opponent tap you don't win,period.

For those referencing the Crippler Crossface and the Yes-Lock, those submissions both go across the face, while the video demonstrates an S-grip going across the neck (which adds a choking element).
@ianstephenson9721
@ianstephenson9721 2 жыл бұрын
The Crippler Crossface also didn't really attack the arm, rather just held it in place. The Yes/No/LeBell Lock has a legit omoplata. Idk if Benoit had legit grappling credentials, but Bryan is a purple belt in BJJ, so he knows what he's doing there. I'm not sure that a crossface is legal in BJJ/MMA though, so this is the closest you can get to that.
@michaelfarrow5817
@michaelfarrow5817 10 ай бұрын
Most pro wrestling submissions are half/loosely-applied. For instance, if you did a half crab, you'd be better off sitting down on the leg and doing it as a heel hook. So, yes, the LeBell lock is actually a choke but it's wrestling so you're not supposed to hurt people. However, that is blatantly what Gene Lebell was choking people out with in LA back in the 60s.

I dig how Imanari's style creatively synthesizes various influences. His Omoplata Crossface looks like a pro-wrestling move because it was likely influenced by catch wrestling/shooto techniques, mixed in with BJJ. Japan's fighters are incredibly underrated, but they have some slick grappling techniques that you rarely see in the West. Ryo Chonan's flying heel-hook against Anderson Silva is still one of the sickest submissions I've ever seen in MMA. And how about Alexander Otsuka's Double-Fucking-Armbar against Mike Bourke in 2000? You can write a whole book on Sakuraba's incredibly awkward-yet-technical grappling techniques in his heyday, and Genki Sudo turned a Giant Swing straight from a video game into a Achilles lock against Craig Oxley. In a world where most other fighters are often more athletic, larger, and more technically polished, the Japanese have compensated with sheer creativity.
@Novicearms

For me the big takeaway is at 47 when he clamps down on his left leg with his right leg. I'm not flexible enough for a gogo plata but I like a high guard so I often pull a leg over the top to see what happens. That clamping is my next move.

You guys are fucking crazy and insane. They wear Yoga pants to the gym because they can BEND on those pants easily and work out in them comfortably. Do ballet dancer wear tights to impress men when there's no men around, too? No. It's for the flexibility purpose you losers.
