I trained one session at 10th Planet Burbank and we drilled/learned this set up. Three weeks later, I pop an arm at grapplers quest with this same set up, and about two months later I won a tournament using this system. The arm bar was super tight and amazingly set up! Great shit from Eddie Bravo. I fucking love the 10th Planet System.

Rubber Guard is good stuff I use it all the time and I go to a GI school. Its is one of those thing if you don't drill a lot and don't try a lot when you roll, don't use it live or at grappling tournament, a bad rubber guard is the most easiest guards to pass but if you have it down good its great to use!
@sellihcra13 жыл бұрын
Hey Eddie, Love the system btw! Only thing is I used rubber guard in an open division, in Jiu- jitsu by the bay recently. The guy I was against was a huge world champ n had 60 pound over me :/ I almost had the gogoplata on him but he blew through my guard popping my knee! I know it was because i wasnt hugging my knee as well as I could have. Anyone out there from 10th planet have any suggestions about keeping your knee safe from injury during rubber guard? I could really use the help. Thanks
@bxnxjmin2 жыл бұрын
I know this was 10 years ago but you angle yourself outwards more and use your hip as a fulcrum so the pressure is off your knee
@Wrestlefan112 жыл бұрын
I would recommend really stretching everything out immediately before your match, get warmed up and stretch out if u plan on using the rubber guard.. if u go into your match all cold and tight injuries are probably more likely to happen.. its the same with anything accidents can always happen, but if you stretch out it can seriously reduce injury

I guess my legs are squeezing tight enough so they can sort of back up and scooch their head out between my legs. Any advice on what to do besides squeezing my legs more? Like if they scooch out what move should i go to? Thanks so much. Love you all.

I've seen the rubber guard completely negate an opponent's striking in the UFC. IMO, the rubber guard and Eddie's system is BJJ evolved. You guys have to remember that there is a huge difference between competition/sport BJJ and practical street or sport MMA grappling.
