@Litshttam With some good editing, TFA can be good. Removing Rey's Mary-Sueness and some bad dialogue is a start. Finn's character can also be improved by not making him the butt of jokes. Same with Kylo. Poe joking with Kylo at the start of the film messed up Kylo's character.

Creating a character and then picking their color is the most horrible way to create a character. You have to know what you're going for before you write them, that way the actor will fit like a hand in a glove.
@steel58975 жыл бұрын
The skin color isn't necessarily relevant to the character though, outside specific settings and contexts. You wouldn't cast a black actor for an historical show about vikings, or a white actor for an African biography, for example, that's just obvious stuff. Otherwise, I say the usual rule of picking the most talented person for the job applies regardless.
@THEBATMAN28AHH5 жыл бұрын
@@steel5897 i see your point and that may be true. However from a psychological standpoint, we have to realize that whenever we create characters, we inherently create them with very similar characteristics to ourselves. It's human nature to put ourselves first. And if a person is created with a very specific look in mind, then we should cast someone who looks the closest and acts the best. I think by creating a race-less character, you lack the depth of a real human being.
@blakestacy54052 жыл бұрын
@@THEBATMAN28AHH Your race has nothing to do with who you are as a human being. There can easily be a black, white, Asian, South American, ect people who all act entirely the same and make similar choices because, although their culture may have some effect on their personality, their race does NOT. And In a majority of places at least some people of a majority of races and ethnicities exist. And in many places the main heritage they share is THAT place and growing up there. So while YES the best actor should be picked, NO race does not factor into who the best actor would be. It might be harder to find an actor of certain races to play a native Pacific Islander well (for example) but most films have MANY roles that could easily fit any race authentically.
@THEBATMAN28AHH2 жыл бұрын
@@blakestacy5405 that's what I'm getting at. Maybe I worded it wrong but my point is that if you're creating a character, you have to have a mental example of what you're going for. We actually suck at creating original things. For example, Barret from Final Fantasy 7 has striking resemblances to Mr.T. weather that was intentional or not is up for debate, but the point is that when the creators designed that character, they obviously had a vision of what they wanted loosely based on something that already existed. I think that gives them depth. Your culture and your race does matter. It's what makes you an individual.
