man i really hope the lakers do well this season playing like this. not because I'm a lakers fan, but because this style of basketball is so much more engaging to watch than iso plays or just lobbing up a quick three. if they're successful with this hopefully we see more teams add it to their bag

@@jack.charlesc4750talk about not knowing what the hell you’re talking about 😅 20 years ago had the most ISO’s ever. That was the late 90’s to 2000’s style. Which is partially why the “defense was so good” everyone wanted to be like Mike, but hardly anyone came close. Think Kobe and his style. Now, the 2007 Suns, started the 7 seconds or less which led to the Warriors spacing style. The league copies the great teams and players of recent, without having the personell to do so. I don’t think you know what you are watching when you turn the game on, plenty teams with good ball movement. Yes shooting 3’s is necessary to win.

yep it was obvious to me. and ham was so bad they really have nothing to lose. i wondered why everyone was screaming at jj's "coaching" expirience. but ignore that ham played 2 seasons averaging 1 point per game. jj played 18 seasons as a thinking "unathletic" player while the nba revolutionized. there is no better expirience than playing in the nba. the little coaching stuff he will learn but the basketball iq you either have or you dont.

Lakers are 5th in the entire league 14 games into the season. With pretty much the exact crew as they had last year with the addition of DK as a rookie. This shows the difference coaches make to a team. Ham didn't do any of this and lost the locker room. Jj has been the coach for, what, 3 months? And not only has the team bought into their system, but they're winning games with the system. This creates the cycle of: 1. Coaches creates new system 2. Players try it, but are potentially skeptical 3. System works when applied correctly, and film sessions show when they don't follow the system and things fall apart. They start winning games 4. Players buy into system because it generates wins 5. Coach refines system as opposing teams find ways to counter them 6. Players continue adapting and provide feedback This cycle is only possible when the system generates wins and winning creates a healthy locker room where now the leaders (LeBron, AD) can hold everyone accountable to their role and JJ holds the leaders accountable. And JJ got best start he could have asked for. Starting the season off with 3 to 4 wins immediately proved to the whole team whatever they're doing is working. This means no matter what struggles the team goes through over the course of the season, the players will look towards Jj as their coach. As long as LeBron trusts him, then the whole team will follow. And that's exactly what JJ understands and is doing
@DjWarp792 ай бұрын

I would agree. Part of the problem with Lebron teams on the west cost is they play east coast ball on the west cost. Which means they don't have a great regular season. Because west coast regular seaosn is harder. Lebron just working way to hard. I don't think Davids is going to keep it together for the whole season. He just doesn't want it enough.

Now you see all these media posts about how JJ is a coaching genius when it’s the farthest thing from being a fact. Lebron is “allowing” JJ to actually coach the team which is an opportunity he never afforded Darvin Ham. Lebron is hyper-aware of the optics of everyone knowing he got Ham fired, JJ hired and Bronny drafted so he has a vested interest in making this work. At the end of the day this is, as it has always been, about Lebron controlling the narrative.

You know who were the "analysts" and TV personalities who knew nothing about basketball. They were the ones who dissed the JJ Redick hiring. It's like they never listened to his interviews or even watched the Mind the Game podcast. Interview after interview, JJ showed off he knew basketball tactics. The one where he declared he's gonna use math should have clued people in. At every Mind the Game episode, he showed he has the mind for coaching. He's a Mazzula fan ffs. Game recognizes game. He told Lebron in the podcast he wants Lebron to shoot more threes. He told the rest of the world he wants the Lakers to play faster. Ffs, he basically broadcasted his entire philosophy in the pod. More threes, more movement, more transition offense. The guy is a bigger stat nerd than Morey. You know how I know a coaching candidate is stupid? They'll declare they hate stats and don't believe in stats. Look no further than Billups. The guy doesn't believe in threes.
