You both sound like Lakers fans rather than LeBron James or Anthony Davis fans. I think fans of specific players can be too harsh on role players. I feel the same about head coaches. I advocated for keeping Coach Vogel and i advocated for keeping Coach Ham. I don't believe in blaming role players or head coaches when teams come up short, especially when the competition in the league is so good. I don't believe in blaming ownership or the gm. Basketball, like all team sports is about everything, the whole, and most specifically, about moments. The Lakers as a whole did it together in 2019/2020 and simply have not been able to replicate that(i would say AD going down in round one in 2020/2021 had a lot to do with that) 2022/2023 they had moments, in particular the 4th qtrs of all WCF games, where they just couldn't come through and this includes the two best players... 2023/2024 they had moments against the defending champs, in particular the 4th qtrs again and once again, the "team" couldn't get it done, this includes the team's two best players. I advocate for The Lakers to identify key current Lakers that appear to me, to be good "team" players. To me those are: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince, Max Christie, and Jared Vanderbilt. I would start with those six core players and build out from there.... Rui Hachimura is a "tweener" for me. I think he is a very nice offensive player but i am not holding on to him, just to hold on to him. I'm trying to win a championship and so i am looking at where i can upgrade the roster. Get more defensive versatility. I see Rui as more of a 6th man type but not really explosive enough for that role, plus my vision would be Bron as a starter but playing less minutes and less with AD and AR, playing more of his minutes with reserves where his points will be more impactful. I want AD and AR to have a bigger scoring role until the 4th qtr where i want it to be Bron and AD... Put the pressure on AR to step up his game as a scorer/play maker. With him on the perimeter, the team needs better point of attack defenders. I would have Christie and Prince battle for one of those spots because both can make open shots(Reddish would be the better point of attack defender but he is completely unreliable on wide open shots) For now i see Prince as the better overall player. I think i would invest in keeping Cam Reddish because he is a willing tough point of attack defender. Build a team that can compete and get into the postseason. That's where Bron and AD can hopefully give The Lakers an edge over comparable duos.
@chadillac1127
@chadillac1127 3 ай бұрын
@@sammyslam1 well said, I agree though I didn’t really care for Ham much. Wish they kept Vogel around for sure. I am staying positive about JJ, I think with the right support staff etc most of our current players can flourish into the two players JJ wants. I just can’t stand when people want to blow up 3/4 of the roster when there was a lot of positives this last season and I really think it was the injuries that piled up. People forget we beat the Celtics with AD and James on the bench.
@sammyslam1
@sammyslam1 3 ай бұрын
@@chadillac1127 ...my only argument for Coach Ham is that i believe he showed that he could prepare the team for big games. I believe Bron and AD had a hand in the firings of Vogel and Ham and to me that is not a great sign. I'm not sure a great head coach is a requirement for winning a title. One could argue that one may be needed for a dynasty but not for a title, lots of different types of head coaches have won nba titles. If i were Rob Pelinka i would have overruled the stars on Vogel and Ham. I liked a lot of things about Coach Ham's approach even if thought he could be better in game and on making halftime adjustments. I want JJ Reddick to be given the full six seasons. That means three with Bron and AD as his center pieces and 3 with The Lakers clearly in rebuild mode. For these 3 Bron/AD years, give him some core players that will be here all 3 seasons and move into the final 3 seasons with him as team leaders. This will be the 4th season with AR as one of the core Lakers and i think season 3 with Max Christie as a core reserve. I like Prince, Reddish, and Vanderbilt as defensive minded role players. That gives Coach Reddick 7 core Lakers, all young except for Bron and AD... Gm Rob Pelinka should be able to find 8 solid Lakers to help put The Lakers into postseason contention.

I would like a defensive scheme guy to pair with JJ Reddick who is more of an offensive minded head coach. However the defensive minded assistant doesn't have to be the lead assistant. The lead assistant job should go to a former head coach and there are some really good candidates out there. One of the things The Warriors did when they hired Jackson and Kerr was to indentify defense as the difference maker for The Warriors and Ron Adams was identified as someone well versed in defensive schemes and concepts. That's whats needed for The Lakers in my view.... Someone that can help them become a top 10 defensive team.
