18lb yorkie weighs more than the combined weight of his parents. Sadly both dad and mom passed away in 2022, in January and December respectively.

Giant Yorkies = more Yorkie to love. Proud Mom of one for 12.5 years. Bestest dog ever. Missing him terribly a year and a half later.

Exactly my thoughts. I got a yorkie because i love them and i did not know that mine will be a giant. Thank god he is because i did not even want a small one. He looks exactly like JJ but floppy eared. Best thing is not worrying that a bigger dog will crush them while playing or even worse if they get attacked.

Sorry about further baby. We lost our Cooper Oct. 10th. he was 13.5... we were so use to him being with us it is hard to understand how short 13 yrs can fly by... he averaged 12.5 & 14 lbs. Would love to find another black giant yorkie. The breeder had put Cooper in the dog pound because his ears would not stand up.. go figure.. so he was papered.

I have a Yorkie poodle cross. Same thing. Dad was 5.5 pound Yorkie and mom was an 8 pound poodle. We expected something in between, but he is 15 pounds!

Yorkies were meant to be about 17 pounds. Silly people bred them to be smaller.

Interesting, I haven’t done much research into the origins of Yorkies aside from their breed behaviour traits. It makes sense that they were bigger. I

I think that it’s just the roll of genetic dice. Just like humans having different sized offspring.

I think JJ's parents might be the parents of my giant Yorkie. 🤔
@NotSoFastOldtymer Жыл бұрын
Is your giant yorkie from BC? Sadly both parents are no longer alive. Jimmy passed only a couple weeks after these pics were taken, 2 years ago, and Poppy passed a few weeks ago 😢

Thanks, JJ’s parents were not my dogs, they belonged to an elderly gentleman who has suffered this huge loss but JJ did regularly see his parents at the dog park. Jimmy was only 6 at the time of his passing. 🥲

There is no such thing as a giant YORKIE. This dog is a MIXED BREED because TRUE yorkies are always SMALL if they are PURE BREEDS!
@NotSoFastOldtymer2 ай бұрын
The word Giant in the title wasn’t referencing a breed name, he’s a yorkie. DNA test confirmed he is and all his siblings are small. I think it’s one of those odd genetic things that happen in many species, including humans.
