Be careful of buying property in Ghana. They sell the same land to multiple people and there is no regulation. Giving a year's worth of rent is a gamble. You have to make sure they own the property just as when you seek home ownership. This place is more expensive than people think if they want to live the same lifestyle they lived in the USA or abroad. Don't come here if you are broke and have no recurring income.

I’m 66 and even the elderly Ghanaian women are closed off to embarking on meaningful relationships, unless you are spending your money on them or their family members. Too many people in general beg for money, like I’m just dripping with it. I’m building a house there but I wish I had waited and experienced more interactions with the people, because I would not have built there. Ghana is a great place to visit for African Americans, but in my opinion, it’s not ready for many of us to relocate there!! Ghanaian’s (many, not all), don’t take things seriously because they don’t employ critical thinking skills. Great video!!

I commend you Jasmine for once again producing another honest and well rounded video about life in ghana. Ive probably watched 100s of youtube vlogs about Ghana. Ghana always looks shiny and instagramable, but many of these vloggers rarely tell the whole truth about life here. Its so tightly curated; they omit so much about life here, it borders on deception. The clubs, the hotels, a fantasy Ghana. The distance between Instagram Ghana and the way most Ghanaians live is very wide and you are one of the very few vloggers who consistently addresses this. Sorry for the essay, but Thank You!

The oddities and dysfunctional aspects of Ghana you described are what prevail in most underdeveloped, rural societies. Don’t be fooled by modern blandishments-the cars, the architecture, etc. It’s not about introducing technology to a non-Western society; it’s about changing age-old habits and a mentality ingrained over centuries of poverty and exploitation. Societies that have experienced systematic oppression turn to resignation as a coping mechanism for survival. That’s the “laid-back” attitude you described. Countries that have experienced poverty and deprivation tend to have higher “pettiness” and “dishonesty.” It’s hard to turn the culture of poverty.

I am always baffled by how some who has never owned a business or investment real estate in a culture and economy they were born and raised in ( like the USA) thinks doing so for your first time in a foreign culture and economy is not putting the odds against you at best. If you look at economies like a cash register and you have access to the largest cash register on earth and have not figured out how to extract cash from it, how will going to a much smaller cash register make things better for you and your economic future? Not to mention the unknown variables like government, cultural red tape . People are distracting us from mining the Gold we have a birthright to right underneath our feet. We bled for this right.

We run a free school for 200 kids in Ashaiman. Even though we are giving free education the locals don't appreciate it. The more you give the more they take. We were targeted and had our house broken into twice. We lived in Tema. I decided to just focus on helping make the community build. I am a grant writer and business consultant so I started helping SMEs and NGOs with capacity building training and finding venture capital from Western investors to scale their businesses. But I left the country last year. I'm coming back in August to launch a nurse project that will put nurses into the 30,000 private schools. I'll just go back and forth between the States and the States. 😊

#4 was my worst experience as well. It wasn't just one incident unfortunately for me. It was constant from the police harassing us for money to anytime I would go out wanting to make friends, it turned out just to be about money for them. Very sad mindset! My husband is from Ghana. Just wanting to relax and make friends is extremely difficult. You can't really open up and talk about anything because then people don't respect you according to how my husband explained his culture to me. I get the impression many think that just because we are from the West were automatically extremely rich and owe them. There are also some very sweet people, too.
@JasmineAmaa11 ай бұрын
I don’t think its because Ghanaians don’t respect people from the diaspora. I think its because a certain picture has been painted about the west and everything associated with it. So they assume everyone associated with it is coming from the fancy places seen in movies, music videos and even the news sometimes. The well traveled ones think a little differently

Our wedding was Lit and my family so beautiful and I love Ghana. It was very easy for me to meet people, I am very outgoing, friendly and open minded. I also know that you must be respectful of the culture and the differences. It is very laid back, pay is different so I advise having a job outside the country before you come that pays a high salary, remote work or some type of business venture/idea, the power goes out, there are a lot of holidays. But I love it and its beautiful. I drove this last visit and explored so much more. Can not wait to come back! I will be moving there in the next 3 years. I love Ghana!🙏💗😇

I lived in Komenda for 3 years (1964-67) as a child (8-11). Liked the beach but very isolating. Video hard to hear. Lots of background noise but glad you made it regardless.

Ghanaians that have not traveled out don't really know what they have, when it comes to the peace they enjoy...
@JasmineAmaa11 ай бұрын
This is true but I wouldn’t say its just Ghanaians. Most of the time you can get comfortable wherever u live so its hard to compare anything until u move out of explore other places.

@@JasmineAmaaI don't know, I've lived a lot of places. Including other African countries, I've never experienced this kind of peace. Ghanaians are built differently and I love being here, although I do wish we had Kenya's infrastructure and Rwand's cleanliness. 😂

Nana Ama, building meaningful human relationships is difficult everywhere around the world. Even with pets, it takes time and effort. Humans are complex beings and it takes us time to trust a stranger and bring him or her into our inner lives. Great observations, thanks.

Yes, but it easy to assume its easy to form friendships here because of how friendly the people are here.

@@JasmineAmaa I get your point. However, I still think it is easier to do in Ghana, and Africa in general, compared to the West. I've lived with my American neighbors for 20+ years and I only know the name of one guy and it's not for lack of effort. In fact, there's a couple who wouldn't even respond when we say hello and it's not because of any conflict/problem between us.

I am happy I watched your video, I heard that Ghana was a good place for a entrepreneur. I was thinking about opening up a McDonald's franchise because I heard that they don't have any. I will look somewhere else

You can’t open a McDonald’s franchise without McDonald’s permission

I love your content, it’s very informative. I would just say whenever possible you need to invest in a noise canceling microphone. Seeing you out in Ghana is great but the environment is sometimes way louder than you and your message is getting lost.
@greenfestonline6 ай бұрын
I enjoy your content, but work on the audio. The background / ambient sounds are distracting and negatively impact the presentation. I think a mic that isolates your voice from the ambient sounds would be a worthwhile investment.
