Be careful of buying property in Ghana. They sell the same land to multiple people and there is no regulation. Giving a year's worth of rent is a gamble. You have to make sure they own the property just as when you seek home ownership. This place is more expensive than people think if they want to live the same lifestyle they lived in the USA or abroad. Don't come here if you are broke and have no recurring income.

After school, she sometimes invited me to her home, her mom held a restaurant... but growing up, travelling for studies overseas we lost each other years ago (...). Anyway, today I also plan to come back to our sweet home and prospect as well for anywhere interesting place over there, and wish everyone in the way welcome, we're all brothers and Africa belong to us.

I commend you Jasmine for once again producing another honest and well rounded video about life in ghana. Ive probably watched 100s of youtube vlogs about Ghana. Ghana always looks shiny and instagramable, but many of these vloggers rarely tell the whole truth about life here. Its so tightly curated; they omit so much about life here, it borders on deception. The clubs, the hotels, a fantasy Ghana. The distance between Instagram Ghana and the way most Ghanaians live is very wide and you are one of the very few vloggers who consistently addresses this. Sorry for the essay, but Thank You!

I’m 66 and even the elderly Ghanaian women are closed off to embarking on meaningful relationships, unless you are spending your money on them or their family members. Too many people in general beg for money, like I’m just dripping with it. I’m building a house there but I wish I had waited and experienced more interactions with the people, because I would not have built there. Ghana is a great place to visit for African Americans, but in my opinion, it’s not ready for many of us to relocate there!! Ghanaian’s (many, not all), don’t take things seriously because they don’t employ critical thinking skills. Great video!!

#4 was my worst experience as well. It wasn't just one incident unfortunately for me. It was constant from the police harassing us for money to anytime I would go out wanting to make friends, it turned out just to be about money for them. Very sad mindset! My husband is from Ghana. Just wanting to relax and make friends is extremely difficult. You can't really open up and talk about anything because then people don't respect you according to how my husband explained his culture to me. I get the impression many think that just because we are from the West were automatically extremely rich and owe them. There are also some very sweet people, too.
@JasmineAmaa6 ай бұрын
I don’t think its because Ghanaians don’t respect people from the diaspora. I think its because a certain picture has been painted about the west and everything associated with it. So they assume everyone associated with it is coming from the fancy places seen in movies, music videos and even the news sometimes. The well traveled ones think a little differently

THANK YOU Jasmine for sharing the truth! I'm so tired of KZbinrs spewing the propaganda of "Every Day is a Holiday in Ghana " I moved from the States and had horrible experiences. We run a free school for 200 kids in Ashaiman. Even though we are giving free education the locals don't appreciate it. The more you give the more they take. We were targeted and had our house broken into twice. We lived in Tema. I decided to just focus on helping make the community build. I am a grant writer and business consultant so I started helping SMEs and NGOs with capacity building training and finding venture capital from Western investors to scale their businesses. But I left the country last year. I'm coming back in August to launch a nurse project that will put nurses into the 30,000 private schools. I'll just go back and forth between the States and the States. 😊

Our wedding was Lit and my family so beautiful and I love Ghana. It was very easy for me to meet people, I am very outgoing, friendly and open minded. I also know that you must be respectful of the culture and the differences. It is very laid back, pay is different so I advise having a job outside the country before you come that pays a high salary, remote work or some type of business venture/idea, the power goes out, there are a lot of holidays. But I love it and its beautiful. I drove this last visit and explored so much more. Can not wait to come back! I will be moving there in the next 3 years. I love Ghana!🙏💗😇

🇳🇬Sis kim come to Lagos. Living in Lagos is almost like living in America. The difference is that Lagos is 90% more safer than America, 65% more holier and 75% more cheaper than America. With 100 dollars you can get a one room Self contained or a mini flat to live in Lagos in places outside the main cities. They also have some free Christian camps people can stay in for not more than months but these places are about 2 hours from the happening cities in Lagos and where businesses opportunities are far greater. Though one can cross by sea in 30mins. Sis Kim What you are going through in Ghana is nothing compared to what many Nigerians living in Ghana have gone through in the hands of both their men and women but more especially their men . Most Ghanaians, Republic of Benin and south Africans men and women are not happy when they see you doing better than them. They easily get jealous. Many Nigerians have been killed in Ghana and South Africa. Though most South African and many other countries' women love Nigerian men but this is also the reason why They killed a lot of Nigerian men and burn their houses and business places with fire in Ghana and South Africa. Ghanaians and Republic of Benin practice voodoo a lot and that makes it more dangerous or unsafe areas to live . Most false prophets from different nations come to get their powers from Ghana and Republic of Benin. You feel their men are nice because you are a woman. Go and ask foreign men who are doing well what they go through in the hands of Ghanaian men. I have already heard some stories from American men of what they have been through with in Ghana. You can come and stay and do a one month trial in Lagos in Western Nigeria. Western Nigeria is the safest areas of Nigerian. Security is good especially in Lagos state and OGUN state. But Lagos is more vibrant and accommodation is more expensive in Lagos than OGUN States. But houses on the out skirt or towards the boundaries areas of Lagos are cheap. Lagos and OGUN States share boundaries or are next to each other . People are on the streets of Lagos all night long. You can get to Lagos by sea or air from Ghana in 1 hour but 9 Hours by road. Nigerians are loving and hospitable. And they respect foreigners. Lots of beautiful places too. We are good cooks . Nigerians are do not practice voodoo. That is strange to us.

Great vid. Thank you for your honesty about moving to and living in Ghana. People need to do their research about migrating to Ghana (or any other country). It isn't all sunshine, beaches and jollof rice. LOL Many people in the west take what we have for granted and a lot of western black people have very naive views of Africa (in terms of the cultures, the people's looks, etc). Either way, Ghana is a beautiful country.

One thing i noticed is that west Africa is over hyped just like Kenya. Life is not as easy as its portrayed on social media. Southern Africa is way more advanced than the rest of Africa.
