We call this "tonmtonm" in Haiti 🇭🇹, we prepare the sauce (or kalalou) with okra, meat, dry fish, etc.. 🤤. Proud of the connection we have with the mother continent, eternal love Haiti 🇭🇹 Africa 🌍
@raymondomollo6748 Жыл бұрын
The connection is deeper than you think. The 4 major tribes that were enslaved were the Yoruba and Igbo from Nigeria, the Akan from Ghana and the Mandinka who are found in Senegal, Gambia, Guinea and Mali. African culture, till today is passed down orally from generation to generation. The ancestors must have of course done the same when it comes to food. That is why you see the similarities with "tonm tonm". Even the jumbalaya in the American South is a Hallmark of the enslaved, hence jollof rice whether from Nigeria, Ghana or Senegal is familiar to black American southerners and vice versa. But anyway, good observation brotha. Much love and respect from a brotha in the Motherland Kenya.

Fellow Haitian here 🖐🏽, not only that the food is similar but the country itself looks like Haiti when it was “la perle des Antilles” if you grew up in Haiti. If you haven’t visited Ghana yet, I highly recommend it, I fell in love the very first time and I’m seriously considering moving there soon.

This is so nice that African families are usually very big and there is a great sense of community. People in Europe usually do not have this and it's very sad. I think people who grow up in a big family never feel lonely and are never alone.

Great cooking at home and banter vid as usual. Jasmine and Aisha are one of the best KZbin duos. The food looks great. As always, Aisha is a star and the way she pounds fufu with the mortar and pestle... She defo has West African Auntie superhuman physical prowess! LOL 🤣😆 P.S. I love your garden. Let me make some videos suggestions. Can you do a video on how your parents were able to instil your culture especially with the language for you to be so proficient to help parents struggling with that. A video with Aisha teaching you her language will be interesting as well or an ethnicity tag with you two so we get to know two different cultures in Ghana.
