I’m trying to do this using the ‘app’ that does it using credits (I don’t have PRO) it just says have car in race mode before doing it? I tried using this sequence and without neither worked it just says ‘check ignition and try again’ no matter what I try. Any ideas?

ive got a cupra ateca with flaps as standard but when i go into obd byte 9 the bit 2 isnt called exhaust vales its just called bit 2 but it has the enabled and disabled option should i be find changing it ?

I bought one and the answer is no it has to be mapped out or you can buy a egr replicator

What controls when the flaps are open normally? Is it in the "Mode" settings, or is it the mode that the DSG is in "D" or "S"?

Not particularly, I'd just recommend coding them back every so often to make sure they don't stick open

No worries, I've coded the brake lights to be extended, pace light indicators, more power to the rear through the Haldex system, carbon dash, alarm chirp, that's all I can think of off the top of my head but plenty more

Hi Joszer, when coding them back you have to follow the exact same process, so engine on, car in race and sport gearbox, ignition off, then ignition on, and you should be able to do it

Hi Klayton, it should do, what I'd recommend doing is clearing the code via OBD11, so the error code goes away, and then do these steps and it should work

Trying to deactivate exhaust flaps using the one touch app on MY MK7.5R 2017 I have the car in race mode, dsg in sport, ignition on engine off. Select off and holding green tick then getting a red Failed message at the bottom of the screen every time I try. I've tried a few different things but nothing working. Any ideas??

you're actually incorrect on your explanation of how the Exhaust valves work... they actually work as follows: Flapper valves are open at idle, close after 1100 RPM during part throttle. Full throttle 1st-4th gear the valves open until throttle let off. 4th gear, 1500 RPM to full throttle closed, closed until 3500 RPM, then open until lift off throttle. The "drive modes" Modes actually have 0 effect on the valve.

Earl Drudge it’s possible that race mode does have some other functions that include other adaptations for the exhaust valves.

Did this to my GTI and it sent me into limp mode by opening the fucking wastegate permanently sending me into limp mode because of a lean condition. misfiring like crazy, hide cylinder, and severe underboost. I tried the reverse steps of this guys video, and I need a new turbo or wastegate. I would not recommend opening the exhaust doors permanently as it’s very detrimental and costly. Thanks British dude.

A valve on the exhaust has no bearing on your wastegate 😂 dude there was issues with your car. People here in the UK unplug, blank, and code out their exhaust valves on most vehicles that have them, including thousands of Ea888 engines, MK7/MK8 Golf etc. Etc. A lean condition linked to exhaust valves is night on impossible, as the exhaust valve doesn't control your fuelling 😂 might wanna read up a bit before coming at me like that brother

It’s not going to make it any louder when the OEM setting opens the valves at certain RPM and in certain drive modes. It simply opens the valves ALL the time, rather than at specific times.
