I am allergic to the penicillins and was prescribed levoflaxcin as an alternative. My pounding headache and nausea and fever went away immediately after starting the antibiotic, but I still have slight pain and definitely muffled hearing in my right ear. I am kind of worried that it hasn't gone away and it's already been almost a week on the antibiotic. I am glad it's responded slightly but the muffled and very very slight ear pain is not gone still. I pray I'll be alright. To make things more complicated I also have a swallowing problem so I can't guarantee that I can swallow the pills they give me. Luckily they've been small enough for me too but I wish there were liquid antibioitics easily on hand for people like me who need them immediately and can't wait. I am just glad I could swallow the regular ones. I am continuing to self-advocate. See a regular doctor this Wed. for my 7 day follow up after levoflaxcin and just to be on the extra safe side an ENT appt. this Friday. I really need help.

After day 4 of what I knew was an ear infection, I went to our walk-in clinic yesterday . Low and behold...ear infection. Otitis Media with effusion. Was prescribed 875-125mg Amoxicillin-CLAV twice daily (morning and night). The pain is unreal. My face near that ear (auricular lymph node?) is really swollen and so is the lymph node behind and just under my ear. That whole area hurts to touch. Cannot sleep on that side because the pain is so great. Sometimes, I get a sharp stabbing pain out of nowhere, but mostly it's just a bad constanting achy/burning feeling through my whole ear. I'm almost deaf in that ear, sound is muffled so bad and now a bright yellow liquid is beginning to drain out, especially after I wake from a much needed nap. Anyone else with these symptoms of pain and swelling on the outside of the ear? I was hoping that a full day and a half on the antibiotic would have started SOME relief, but no such luck. I'm kind of getting concerned.

@@elementalplane9956 I had to sleep on my opposite side the whole time. I am finally on the mend. No more pain. Swelling is all the way down. It took all symptoms days upon days to start getting better. I was left "deaf" even after the infection cleared. Hearing is slowly but surely coming back. If I yawn, that ear seams all filled up again and my own voice echos in my head on that side, but it always slowly subsides. Over all, about a month total for this ear infection and I hadn't had one before this since I was a child (will be 45 in January).

@@dragonel88 Yeah, you need to be perfect when it comes to doing the ear drops and putting it in and down your canal properly, doctors will prescribe you antibiotics, otocomb-otic eardrops and Ciloxan ear drops, it's extremely hard to get rid of middle ear infections that are fungal, took me like 8 months. Probably the worst medical experience I've ever had, deafness and fullness feeling in the ear, was so hard to get rid of. 6+ visits to the doctor for repeat meds and suction of the ear, cost so much money. I ended up selling my airpods, i wore them for an extremely small amount of time, often while mowing lawns, and it gave me a left ear infection that lasted for most of this year. Absolutely not worth buying airpods.

I am a 27 year old male and I got a middle ear infection as I am recovering from COVID. It hurts and my ear is red. Everything sounds muted and some frequencies I hear double, one normal and the other very metallic, like a bad skype call or an anonymized voice on a crime show. Also pretty loud tinnitus

I have these exact sounds problems and I got this issue after the booster vaccine it’s hard to describe. Almost as if o hear shitty sound quality from a low quality speaker. Luckily I can still hear but it’s not how I am used to hearing. Is there any treatment you took for it? How long did it take to get better? It’s been two weeks for me and I’m still not hearing great and ear pain is bad.

@@spiritseeker1982 yes ur correct. Do the sinus exercise of dr alan mandell then do the two points video n her other videos of health care nature. The fluid in middle ear will drain. U need to try.
@ryosaeba98292 жыл бұрын
Side face pain is because of pressure from ears thus becomes stiff and inflamed. It took a while for the fluid to drain. Mine had drain wed and i tried the massage videos last Tuesday early morning. so in the meantime i applied black seed olive oil to my affected area to sooth it.

Sunday night/Monday morning I experienced very muffled hearing in both ears and laryngitis. So I can’t hear or speak☹️. Went into urgent care Monday morning. They put me on antibiotics for 10 days. It’s now been 4 full days and not any bit of improvement. Should I be at least seeing some improvement by now? I have an allergy to penicillin, so they didn’t prescribe the “best” prescription, gave me the “next level down” perception. Hoping someone can give me some insight as to weather by now I should be noticing any improvements? 50 year old male.

@UCc6o1RlMU4QDevMqerBCNzQ I went to my regular Doctor two days ago (Friday). They checked my ears again And found the infection is gone, cat see any fluid buildup anymore... however my hearing is still very muffled. She then proceeded to check up my nose and found lots of congestion and blockage. She’s saying the muffled hearing is now from the excess congestion in my head. She has me taking Claritin and Using Flonase daily along with a saline rinse for my nose. It’s day 3 of all that . I hope this is the ticket.

@TopGun_-2 жыл бұрын
@@Flowerbloom-ft7ru so a few weeks after this, I went back to the ENT Doctor they rechecked my ears and saw the infection was gone and there was no fluid behind the eardrums anymore. However they noted that there is a lot of congestion in my head and it is pushing up against the eardrums, which is what they say is causing the muffled hearing. She has me on Claritin and Flonase along with using a saline rinse twice a day. That’s been about 2-3 weeks now and my hearing has improved about 5-10%... I only can access this by the fact that I don’t have to keep the TV volume up nearly as much, but still have it up more than normal. They’re telling me it could last anywhere from 6 - 12 weeks before the congestion fully goes away, which would put me somewhere into the end of May 2022.
