I have one question from doing test bank questions I noticed that very same organisms such Non-typable H. Influenza, Strept.Pnemo and Moraxella are most common in Rhinosinusitis and Acute Otitis Media. Very thorough slides, well done sir! When you switch between antibiotics, which antibiotics in particular please? I'm enquiring as I've suffered with unilateral congestion and hyposmia since March 2019 after a bad cold/flu. I was finally pescribed a 2 week course of Clarithromycin in September which restored my sense of smell and eased the congestion after 4/5 days, but it was only effective for around an hour before my nose tingled and it went back to being congested. Switching to Amoxicillin, and Azithromycin had no effect either. The only other mediciation that was used that week I had the Clarithromycin, was a nasal lidocaine spray for an endoscopy which turned up no polyps.

Just like everyone else ..thank you for the informative vid. I’ve been dealing w congestion for literally a decade now ..amoxicillin for a tooth ache that seemed to work and jus like you said ..it work but only relief for a short time(less then a week) ..then it was bk to par for the course. Since it was for a tooth ache I wasn’t given the 2nd med ..I know you said it was important ..would it make a difference on the long term resolving of the issue or not? W jus amoxicillin ..I did short term relief. I’m wondering if I need to talk to my GP ..doing the combo meds. I’ll also talk to him bout the sinus CT ..sought out an ENT and jus wanted to do a rhinoplasty w a turbine reduction ..after talking to some that did it ..the results were mediocre at best. I’d rather go the non surgical route ..the ENT was to quick to jump right into the knife and didn’t even want to do the CT. I obviously didn’t do it .. that was yrs ago ..but it’s time to get bk to getting serious bout it. Definitely tell when things are bad ..the fatigue even after 6+hrs of sleep is legit. Thank you ..hopefully get a lil more info. 👍🏻🤘🏻

Sadly, there’s no mention of food sensitivities, histamine intolerance, or mast cell disease as causes of chronic rhinorrhea, sinusitis, sinus pain/pressure and headache. This is why this population suffers so much longer. Medical schools do not teach this stuff. That’s why patients end up being labeled as hypochondriacs or fakers. I had to figure out what was wrong with me by doing my own research. Told my doctor and she’d never heard of histamine intolerance. I gave her handouts to read. I bet she never read them.
