I work nightshift, have for two years. Otherwise healthy but recently had some blood tests done and have shown VD deficiency. Symptoms were severe tiredness, sleeping from friday morning to saturday night only to wake for a small meal then back to bed until sunday afternoon. Dermatitis on my brow and legs, hair loss on my legs in patches, depression, bone aches especially in my ankles and wound healing from minor work related scrapes and cuts took ages to heal. Taking VD now and making sure I see the sun, all good 1 week later

My joints were inflammed all the time, bones felt old. Couldn't lose weight with exercise. Mind was extremely scattered and could not focus, and my muscle would twitch. I just started taking D3 every day as well as Ergocalciferol weekly because i was extremely deficient in vitamin D. I feel great after about 2 months. Who knew i was just deficient in vitamin D.

I’m a blk woman and i literally look like a leopard all over my body i have white patches . It started on my leg and has managed to now be allover my body only to have Drs just look at me and shrug their shoulders . I knew that i was Vitamin D deficient and had to take RX supplements. Once i was finished no one ever tested me again. I’m seeing a new Dr and did blood work and I had to ask for a vitamin D panel 🙄 this should be standard . So I’m gonna assume with all the changes in my skin. Depression , lack of sleep and increased appetite

I have been experiencing hair loss for a few months now, as well as being tired and dealing with full body weakness. In the last few weeks the weakness and lethargy have gotten worse, I've been having a lot of bloat, hot flasesh(feelin overheated), chills, cracking bones and my fibromyalgia, which was fine for a while, has been acting up, so I've been in quite a bit of pain. I've also gained quite a bit of weight and been super cranky. My Dr perscribed me a strong dose of Vitamin D, but what more natural ways can I get Vitamin D? I don't get outside much, so I don't get much sunlight and I also have a dairy allergy.

I had symptoms of Vit D deficiency I have not seen discussed. I developed allergy to almost all kinds of food, except rice and beef and after eating I would get very tired and after a few minutes develop bright red spots around my thighs all the way down to my feet but were not at all itchy. I went to 3 doctors and they were perplexed and one doctor finally said he could not help me and referred me to an allergist who had seen one other patient like me with the same symptoms that had Vit D deficiency. Tests showed I had very low Vit D. After taking Vit. D regularly since then, in 10 years I never had a cold again whereas I used to have a cold 2 or more times a year.

@@MrsYMD it's getting there. I went to my doctor and he told me to take 10,000IU of vitamin d per week for 3 months and go back to test my blood. Well after 3 months it went from severely deficient to deficient. Doctor told me to keep taking it as I have been. I have since read more on internet and it says for vitamin d defiency to take 10,000IU per day. So last week I started taking 3 times a week (30,000 IU per week) and finally yesterday and today, i feel like I have better balance. I have had a total hip replacement 10 years ago, a total knee and shoulder replacement this year, and my back lol - I have 2 good discs that are not problematic and with each mri shows more and more detection with 5 herniated discs .....feeeew! I suspect I have lupus, but my health care provider just wont except it, he also said when I told him about horrible shoulder pain that my bra was causing it but after a year of complaints I had a complete slap tear with complete torn rotator cuff and bicep, my knee was diagnosed after another year of begging for referral that my labrum was completely torn, with bone spurs floating around, I went in for scope and ended up with replacement.... so I suspect lupus, actually leukemia too, dr is blowing me off, hair loss, teeth breaking, no sleep, brain fog but could be from possible csf leak - I went to my care provider on Friday as I now have thrush again for 7 time this year, and my Vitamin d went from 49 six weeks ago to 12 yesterday! I feel horrible , I have severe congestion in my lungs, horrible head ache that worse when I lay down flat where the possible csf leak is better when I lay down, brain fog to the point I have to write down all my medication I take because I cant remember five mins later if I took them, joint pain so severe that I can hardly walk, and it has gotten better after my surgeries this year, chest pain, and ive gained 15 lbs in a week from swelling, stiffness in my neck to point I cant turn my neck, I cant touch my chin to my chest, if I try its very painful, and low grade fever for 6 months but has gone up to only 100.2 in last two days. But your video has given me the information I need to ask for a rheumatologist , I guess a new dr too becasue she told me vit d is in normal range, I so appreciate your video as I have to advocate for myself ..I dont take pain meds, I was put on depression meds last year but im not depressed , only aggravated I feel so bad. Since you cannot overdose on vit d you can safely take a high dose of it without having the expensive tests . Most people are deficient so it is vital to increase the dose immediately and stay on it .

Great science, but poor guideline doses. The appropriate levels can be determined by breast feeding women. If a woman's breast milk is deficient in vit d for the infant, then she doesn't have optimal levels, as she is using it up herself, not passing along. The literature shows to reach these levels it takes over 5000 IU (6400IU if memory serves). This along with ancestral cultures, and their levels, points towards necessary sun exposure, supplementation of 5000IU+, or a combination, to reach similar levels. The nutrition guidelines are simply deficient.
@jjmedicine
@jjmedicine 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sanguine! Thanks! Yes, I agree - guidelines are probably in need of some updating! One thing to mention is that although I mention these maintenance and repletion doses for vitamin D supplements, that does not include the addition of both dietary and endogenously synthesized vitamin D as well, so the actual "intake" would be higher than quoted here.

Hi, thankyou so much for this informative video! I've done my best to follow what you've said (and I intend to watch it again) but I just need to ask a question 🙈 I had my blood test results for my chronic fatigue (I have a few other of the less serious symptoms you listed, too) and sure enough, my doctor said I have a vitamin D deficiency. He told me to buy myself some vitamin D supplements, suggesting I get 800IU/day. He said I was deficient but not severely deficient. All I can find online (amazon) is 1000IU/day and I've gone for the chewy vitamin D3 gummies of this dosage (1000IU). I know you're not my doctor, but does this sound okay? Will taking one of these per day likely set it straight? I just don't want to under or overdo it and make myself more ill. I appreciate if you can't answer this question, you just 'don't know if you don't ask' 🥲🤣 Thankyou again for this brilliant video 🙂
