Same here. New doctor agreed to test, we found I was very deficient. I’ve been taking vitamin d3 for around 6 months and my levels are just below where they should be. Can’t stand doctors who play God, boot them in the rear and find another one.

Yes to all the above. At first they just put me on anti depression and mood stabilizer meds. Then a year later when I was having severe spine Paine they did a bone density scan. And sure enough they found all the reasons I was hurting all over in my bones. Osteoporosis, vit D level was 13, severely low calcium and have problems with absorption. Could absorption problems be due to low vit D ? Thank you 😊

Just wanting to share a public warning - my dad absolutely ruined his kidneys by taking way in excess the RDA, 60,000 IU’s with K2, he’s currently in hospital due to taking too much, he enjoyed the benefits of D3 so much that he just took more - 2 years later D3 toxicity- eGFR went down to 10. No one really talks about toxicity and most doctors haven’t seen it because it’s rare, but it does happen. Thanks for reading :)

From what I've heard and understand and what Dr Berg keeps reiterating is that if you're taking high vit d3 dosages, you should be drinking at least 2 litres (could be more) of water a day to counteract toxicity and kidney stones. He said your body should cope with very high doses, even into 100,000s providing you drink the adequate amount of water. Don't think you should take high doses over long periods.

I had to fight 3 doctors to even get my thyroid tested, and after getting results for hypothyroidism; I then had to fight all over again to get further testing to make sure I didn’t have pituitary involvement or hashimoto - and in allllll the things I read I found there is a correlation between low thyroid and low vitamin D. My endocrinologist refused to order a Vit d test, but I was able to get my primary to do it - and I was at a 15 😑😑😑 A huge part of getting proper treatment is, unfortunately, doing your own research and insisting when the doctors are obviously neglecting your care.

I learned that sometimes the doctor will say no cause the insurance company will not cover it. I had Cigna for 4 years my doctor would order vitamin D due to hypothyroidism and PCOS. However in 2019 and 2020, Cigna said that Vitamin D test wasn’t necessary and would not pay for the test. Now that COVID happened it’s now important. Sadly most medical care is usually up to insurance companies and not the provider- not saying that some doctors just shouldn’t practice period.

I too, had Dr's who would not check me for thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, etc... all they wanted to do was prescribe anti anxiety and SSRI meds. I had to take my health and life into my own hands. It's so sad when the doctors won't help you. I have learned a lot here on youtube from Dr Ken and others like him who are educating us about our bodies, nutrition, vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Very grateful 🙏

Another symptom I'd like to add to this list is: ANXIETY. I've had anxiety all my life, (generalized, anxiety disorder / panic disorder) and after years of therapy I had it pretty well under control on my own without medication. Well, when my vitamin D level went down, my anxiety got so bad that I ended up in the ER and they had to use a really strong sedative just to get me to calm down. It was terrifying. They of course ran all the tests you can imagine on me over the course of the next week, and luckily everything else was fine save for my vitamin D level -- which was down to a 6.5. That's extremely low. My doctor said it had to be what had thrown my body into a pretty much constant adrenalized state, and immediately got me on supplements. So yes, if you're experiencing anxiety, please make sure your doctor checks your vitamin D level regularly. It makes such a huge difference. UPDATE: I just wanted to add here for anyone who might need it, treating my low vitamin D has helped me a lot, but it turns out I also have hypothyroidism & Hashimoto's Disease, so the 3 together was what made my anxiety so severe. Really important to test all these things if you're struggling with anxiety that seems abnormal.

Hey! Are you feeling better now? I had the same experience in June, felt randomly dizzy laying in bed then all of a sudden experienced a random panic attack ! My first thought was to go to a psychologist but went for months and still felt weird. Then I had a regular checkup with my primary doctor and discovered I am d3 deficient. Currently on 50,000 IU for 3 months, 3 weeks into it. My doctor didn't explain this causes anxiety but I remember this girl on Instagram recommending a hair analysis because people don't get panic attacks for no reason.

About a year ago, I was waking up at night with extreme pain in my crotch which would go down the inside of my left leg. Started taking a potassium tablet & the pain would subside more quickly. Went to my doctor she told me to replace with diet tonic water (am type 2 diabetic) because my potassium levels were too high. Did that but still would get the pains, but this time it would start at my ankles and go up my leg. Someone told me to take vitamin D and have been taking only vitamin D3 both morning & night (3 capsules each time) and am not having any pains. What a relief! Someone told me this is "Restless Leg" Syndrome. I do not know, am 75 and not a doctor. Am just relieved I do not have to pay the high price for tonic water to get the quinine and am not experiencing the nightly pains. Thank you doctor for kindly sharing your knowledge with us.

I had been losing hair for many years. As I aged, I figured it was inherited from my grandmother because she had the same problem. My doctor started doing blood checks on me and he discovered that I was very low on vitamin D. So I started taking Vitamin D=3. I take a lot of Vitamin D-3 now. Once I reached my correct levels, I noticed my hair was starting to grow back. I no longer could see my scalp. At first, I didn't know what had caused this change. As I was thinking about it, the only thing I had changed was my vitamin D-3. I'm so happy that my hair is growing back because of it.

I was once diagnosed with low vitamin d and I was so tired that I kept on nearly collapsing and I couldn’t barely stand and I was very depressed not bathing or eating and I was exhausted daily. The only missing symptoms were painful bones and painful muscles and slow healing, but I didn’t really get any injuries while I was vitamin d deficient and my cat could tell something was wrong with me and he was the one who encouraged me to eat one meal per day because he wouldn’t eat unless I fed myself. If he had food he wouldn’t eat unless I ate first which made me eat at least one meal a day to make sure he’d eat his food too. My cats are very sweet and very smart. They can tell when my health is off.

I was diagnosed with low vitamin d last year. Now I take 50,000 units once a week. I’m autistic and I have generalized anxiety disorder; also ADD. My symptoms looked a lot like I had hypothyroidism but fortunately it was very low vitamin d (I think it was a 9 or 12 on my blood test). The worst symptoms were the anxiety, leg/lower back weakness, and the vertigo. As someone who has struggled with anxiety most of their life take it from me when I say that low vitamin d anxiety is a completely different experience. Low vitamin d anxiety is like anxiety that is being done too you; if that makes sense. I felt 100% certain that something was wrong with me medically not mentally. The leg/lower back weakness was around for nearly a year before the vertigo showed up a few days before I went to the doctor. I have never felt this good in my life since starting vitamin d. Also, I suffer from depression due to lack of proper help when I was a child. My autism was undiagnosed until recently and me not being able to get the proper help I needed as a child has led to a lot of cascading problems over my life, for example, I understood as a child that you are supposed to be polite because it’s kind but what I didn’t understand was that being kind didn’t mean that I had to let people walk all over me, use me, bully me, and so much more. From my perspective I can see how things have trickled down so much just from one small misunderstanding. Good doesn’t always mean good and bad doesn’t always mean bad. Anyway, the depression I had vas very different when my vitamin d was really low. It was really sudden, sharp, and intense when it would happen. I would just all of a sudden get so overwhelmingly depressed and sad. Hope that helps.

if you were getting plenty of sunlight when your vitamin d was really low, it is possible that a magnesium deficiency may have caused the vitamin d deficiency, because magnesium helps the body to make vitamin d from sunlight exposure. Please consider watching Dr. Berry's videos on Magnesium :)

Additional point (not sure if another commenter has mentioned this): people with darker skin often need to do Vit D supplements because our skin slows down the synthesization of sunlight into Vit D. Despite getting outside frequently during the spring and summer, I still had abysmally low Vit D levels, and several of the symptoms mentioned by Dr Berry. Dark skin + living in the US = low Vit D.

My 12-year-old daughter was having severe issues with her. Nonstop for months on end extremely heavy and crampy. I made an appointment with the doctor and she right away wanted to put her on birth control, so I asked her if she would do some bloodwork and check her vitamin D as being inside all the time with Covid etc. I had a feeling this might be affecting her. So it came back and her vitamin D was virtually nonexistent so I put her on vitamin D and within four days her period was back to normal. My doctor was shocked and she said that she didn’t know that vitamin D could affect your period and I was so glad that I pushed for that because she’s so young to be going on dangerous Medication. She’s been on it for two years now and it has made a huge difference so just another symptom

Crazy what a difference it makes, right? But no, instead they now are pushing antidepressants for every pain and depression problem. Don't get me wrong, antidepressants are great for people who really need them, but they are the new "cure all" medication and that's hardly appropriate. I have other conditions, but getting my Vit D levels sorted out has made a very noticeable difference in my mood and pain levels. It's a shame that the medical field is tainted with greed. For every 1 good, honest, helpful doctor out there, there's at least 10 that flat out care about nothing but money.

Dr Berry, Thank you so much for all of your videos. I am on day 30 doing carnivore. I've lost 15 pounds, but that isn't even what I am excited about. I have suffered with autoimmune issues for many years. I am 67 years old. Problems began in my late 20s. I've been to many doctors and there was little they knew to do for me. One doctor who was supposed to be a specialist in Fibromyalgia gave me B12 shots. It helped some, but things progressed. He passed away and I went to another doctor. He told me he didn't believe in Fibromyalgia but he would do that my deceased doctor was doing. I just quit going to any doctor. Once I had stroke like symptoms and specialists did brain scans etc...nothing. My face was sagging and still does a bit on one side, and my speech was slurred, but there was nothing wrong with me. hmmm I saw another doctor and he gave me meds that caused me to sleep 16 to 20 hours every day. The pain was throughout my entire body. Muscle spasms in my legs and spine were awful. Head to toe pain. A family member had me watch your videos. Day 9, I realized much of the pain had gone. Day 20 though today...I am alive again! I don't hurt anywhere. Thank you for the videos. I watch them every day for encouragement and information. God bless you. I am sorry this is so long.

@Notsure R A high iron load can lead to ALS, MS and a number of other conditions. Cod liver oil sends the ferritin levels through the roof; ferritin is the protein that stores iron. This is a comment from someone, E. Hane, who bought cod liver oil: "I experienced iron overload (excessively high ferritin levels) after taking Cod Liver Oil (Vitacost brand) for several months. I have an acquaintance who experienced the exact same problem (different brand), with skyrocketing ferritin levels after taking Cod Liver Oil. After discontinuing use, both of us returned to normal iron/ferritin levels within 1 month. High iron levels can lead to deadly bacterial infections. We both were hospitalized with bacterial infections (separate occasions) during our time on Cod Liver Oil. Looking back now it all makes sense. A case study needs to be presented regarding the danger of Cod Liver Oil on iron overload. Do NOT rely on iron serum levels to determine your total iron status. Mine were normal several times, even when my ferritin was abnormal. Doctors will only check iron serum, unless you specifically request ferritin. You MUST test ferritin levels if you are taking Cod Liver Oil. I suspect it is related to the high levels of pre-formed vitamin A found in Cod Liver Oil. Please add to this post if you have experienced something similar as I want to find more possible cases so we can raise awareness as to the potential iron overload dangers of Cod Liver Oil." Use all oils sparingly and take supplements in RDA amounts or not at all if you are eating a wide range of the foods you enjoy; stop supplements immediately if there are ANY negative side effects.

Just FYI, ideal blood levels are about 75-80 nmol/litre. So 50 is still low. I asked my mom what levels they use and they use 75 as a healthy lower limit because she works at a doctors office. 5 means you've basically run out (mine was 38 and I felt like crap, bone issues start around the 25 mark). I had to deep-dive into this because the internet isn't always clear with the info it gives. EDIT: I got 5600 IE booster supplements from my doctor when I asked, maybe you should ask too?

I live in a Northern European country and for 2 months I literally got up with a light fever every single day. Apart from that I had the strangest muscle aches that would last forever, without having played sports. I work fulltime but I am lucky that in that period I could work a lot from home, so that I could take naps in between. I felt like I was mentally and physically drained. At first I thought that I had just worked too much, and that I needed to take things more slowly. I caught every virus out there. I was depressed and very forgetful! The only thing I did not have were bone aches. I had my blood examined and it turned out my vit D was at 15. They gave me 2 capsules of 100k ie, 1 for each week. Then one of 50k ie, and after this I have to take a lower dose each month for the rest of my life, except in August. I couldve sworn that after 1 hour of taking the pill I already felt better. Especially mentally. The 'dark cloud' that my brain seemed to be caught in disappeared very quickly. Now, a couple of weeks later, my body also feels much better and I havent caught any virus or cold since 🙏 it changed my life for the better, wow

You can fix your thyroid with vitamin D?
@travisd.2214
@travisd.2214 5 жыл бұрын
@@BlackAdder1970 It depends on why it is shutting down. It depends if it is related to an auto-immune issue. Both my sisters had theirs shut down, then I. One has passed from from mass organ failure for "unknown" reasons... and the other says... "well its too late for that for me". "Its been shut down for decades"... and taking medication to take its place. So. I know my bodies response. It bounced right back to healthy function within a month. I am in my 40's now. Best advise is this... like i told my sister... do it... tell you doctor. Then after a month or 2 .... amp the drugs down slow to make up for lack of function of thyroid and keep testing. do it however long it takes till the gland can take back over control of a natural system. Just do it slow... and test.. in my case it bounced right back and I never went on supplemental drugs... part of the reason for the deficiency was from seizures and what Dilantin does to a body. (robs calcium via vit D... and magnesium) Im on Kepra now. Even my Neurologist is sure I have MS at this point given many other painful things but I will see a Reumatologist finally in Jan. hopefully for a diagnosis ... im sick of treating symptoms. Yes Vit D can turn a thyroid around after shutting down. If ya read up on Vit D (which is lacking in this vid) It actually acts much more like a hormone in its stages of change in the body. D2 / D3 / ect ect... and so many variants of the compound there after. Acts exactly like a hormone. It is vital to function just as much as salt is. Or water... ect ect. So if ya start a vit D to activate your thyroid function again... get your doc involved and have em test. once ya have solide levels of vit d in your system... very slowly reduce the supplement for its lack of function. See and test if it wakes the fuck back up. It just might. It did for me. I hope it does for you and or yours. Best of regards and Blessing and Prayers! I hope it works. They are researching the heck outa vit D right now. For people with Morbid Immune issues.. like MS ect... its where ya see the best results when they thyroid gives up too. I truly hope it helps... this info saved my life. Love and prayers! 🙏💕

@@BlackAdder1970 in short answer... if dealing with a morbid "auto immune" issue. (that they dont use that term any more anyway) Cancer by nature is "auto immune". Awesome video!!!!! I am a chronic sufferer of low vitamin D. Mine at one time was charted as the lowest my doctor who was in practice for over 35 years had seen. It was at a 3. It was a great catch as I had just started seeing him. I told him I honestly felt like I was dying and no one would take me seriously. Needless to say it took me a prescribed Vitamin D to get my levels up. I am now on a weekly dose of 50,000 units and have been for over two years. We have tried to cut me back but when we do within a month I am sick again and my levels fall drastically. Most physicians unfortunately won't check your vitamin levels just to check you have to request it or have a astute observation on the behalf of the physician you are seeing. I am much better now but due to the abuse my body took of being low for an unknown amount of time I still suffer and have permanent bone loss issues. So I urge everyone to have all your vitamin levels checked. I also found out I have a Vitamin B12 issue and have to watch that too. I eat very healthy and always have but sometimes with some people that is not enough. I am one of those people and this is something that no matter how healthy you think you are being your body doesn't respond the way you intended. You should keep your levels at least at 60. I had to double mine to 10,000 a day.

have you heard of the coimbra protocol? treating autoimmune diseases with extremely high levels of vitamin D. they typically ditch conventional treatments and just take these super high doses of vitamin d along with other vitamins and magnesium. i’ve seen cases of people who went from a wheelchair to being able to walk. the lowest level Dr Coimbra recommends is 10 000 iu a day. for higher doses, you need to be followed by a coimbra protocol to make sure you avoid hypercalcemia.

I have Multiply Sclerosis and I take Vitamin D3 for more than a year now and even though I have ''sand'' in my kidneys the doctor told me it's vital for me to take the supplements because my body doesn't absorb it from sun or foods as it should ( I'm on a nutrition diet but it doesn't absorb the vitamin at all) . So I drink a lot of water and I keep track of my kidneys. I live in Greece, we have sun 360 days a year but my body system is stubborn! Before I take the Vitamin D3 supplement I was all the time tired even after a 20 min quick walk, I could not rest even after 12 hours of sleep, I was feeling fatigue, my muscles was ache all the time, and it was difficult for me to exercise 3 times a week (1 hour per session) due to the tiredness I was feeling. I often thought it was from my condition but it wasn't! Now I am more energized and do things!! People please check your overall vitamins before you think anything else. Maybe it's a deficient in something. Did you know that deficient in vitamin B complex can cause numbness on the hands and on the feet and it's as simple as taking one pill for some days? (and it looks like MS symptoms but it's not MS)

@@Lifesepanga I really have. They did a spinal tap which came back positive only for MS.

@@Lifesepanga You think that not? I wouldn't say I have it unless I did have it. Every test and every examination came back positive 10 years ago. I have both symptoms and positive tests. I hope I didn't but that's not the case here. Please do not doubt someone for a medical condition. Unless you're doctor and you've seen the exams or you have examed the person. You don't know the person and what they've had to go through.

My vitamin D level is below 5 according to my GP. I'm now having to take vitamin tablets for the rest of my life and frequent blood tests. I also cut my finger over 2 months ago and it still hasn't healed fully. I ache and I'm constantly tired. I took my vitamins and within a few hours I had a mad burst of energy 🤪

I try to listen to my body very carefully these days and one of my docs said im crazy cause im inventing symptoms. Fml. Now i dont think we should be hypochondriac with every little symptom and pain we have but we should we careful on how food affects us. I gave up dairy for a little over a month and then i noticed achy muscles and hands. After few days back on dairy and supplementing with vit D, I feel better.

Other people will tell me "aw it's nothing, go stretch if you're sore," or "you're tired? did you eat enough today," "drink enough?" People will say those sorts of things to you until you look like death. Then they'll say "hey, you don't look so good" the day before you're admitted to the hospital or something. It's like yeah, I told you a while ago I didn't feel right, and you just decided NOT to believe me because YOU feel great all the time. My body is not the same as yours, and I do not make up ailments for attention!
