True, silver is very underrated imo. Ppl seem to have given respect to David stern more after he became the late David stern, but I think that if silver was much stricter on Ja that he would have more appreciation. I think he does a great job n think he’s gonna do better the more he learns how to navigate the times rn. It’s easier to be a better commissioner without Kobe, shaq, ai, David Robinson, so many other greats, and the goat while dealing with tv screens being improved vs trying to figure out how ppl now consume sports in many different ways. He’s got a tough job fasho, bet he gets paid what he deserves cause this ain’t easy work, so much weight on his position man. Shoutout to Adam Silver, and to JJ.

Adam Silver is the best type of leader because he completely understood how unfair it is to always put the responsibility of responding to racism on the shoulder of the victims of racism. As the players were voicing, it was unfair that the media was putting the responsibility on the black players to boycott and sacrifice their livelihood in order to deal with Sterling. That's almost like a double-whammy of racism. Adam Silver recognized this, bit the bullet and stood up for what is right at the risk of ruining his own career right at the beginning, at the risk of triggering a very costly litigation with Donald Sterling (which thankfully his wife stepped in to do the right thing avoid this). He thought about the long term and what is right vs the short term and avoiding litigation acutely. He recognized that the players needed their CEO to be an ally, which is exactly NOT what 99% of CEOs in our country do. All they give a crap about is the bottom line and printing money. Not standing up for what is right.

Donald Sterling was always a scumbag racist and the league knew that for decades and did nothing but allowed his offense and marketed his garbage organization. His sleazy side chick is the hero because once she aired him out the league had no choice but to play hero as if they were against him. He has a record that is undeniable and David Stern knew very well about his cases of discrimination and his inappropriate behavior. Where on earth was the ADL with action plans for the hateful Donald Sterling. More protection of its players , a huge increase of pay, players getting into more and more political discussions the list goes on and all these things have accumulated to create more drama around the NBA so more people watching but the quality of the game itself has dissapated. The draft is rigged and hidden behind closed doors to be manipulated. The refs have got worse and most of the players are more interested in money rather than titles. The players have become rather spoiled and he has to deal with that as well as keeping owners relativly happy. Its a thankless job.

The entire league walking out would have been dumb in my opinion. You don't quit on your team, fans, league just because one guy said some horrible stuff. Adam Silver did what he needed to do and that should have been good for all the players. Sterling said horrible things and he paid for them with the ban and loosing his team. That's about as good as you can ask for something like that. If anything, I think the players should stand proud based on what happened because it shows that people care and won't tolerate that kind of thinking that Sterling had. @@samuelonthatop1125 First, African American history (which is actually just American history in my opinion, nothing to do with Africa) is not directly related with what Donald Sterling did/said. What did you want them to do? Have everyone quit playing basketball? What would have that achieved? Would it have kicked Sterling out of thr league faster? No. Would it have changed the vast opinions from people of him? No, everyone already thought he was a scumbag. It would have done nothing but disrupt the careers of the players that they worked so hard for, and the jobs of the tens of thousands of people who support the NBA and those games that go on. Why let one man's terrible comments cause all that damage? No one needed the players to boycott games to bring that story to light, it was already a massive story and anyone paying attention to basketball already knew about it. There was nothing to gain by going on strike. My personal opinion, the more people keep talking about how we are all different races and keep talking about racism the more life we give to it. The quicker everyone just stops talking about it the quicker generations of people will grow up not looking at other races as other races but they only look at others as different people and race won't even be a thought anymore. People just look different as we all do. The more we keep making huge deals abouy race the more it will continue to live and be the narrative in so many situations. Want to end racism? Let it go. Let the present and future leave it in history. I'm not saying forget about it, history is important to teach, but we can leave it in the history classroom and operate in the real world without it. Every generation we have a chance to do this, but it will never be achieved if we keep bringing it up as if what we learn about in history is still well and alive today. When we come across a person who still had a horrible mindset in today's world, you push them aside and move forward to a better place. They will be left behind in history if we let it happen. I encourage you to look up Morgan Freeman's thoughts on this. Smart man.

@@bobbycone2 you have no idea what you are talking about. did you hear donald sterlings comments? basketball is just a game. You obviously don't know anything about Black history. You call it American History? Of course you would associate it with slavery. Donald said he didn't want ANY black people brought to his courtside. Which is funny af considering 95% of the league is Black and making them money, entertaining and being a puppet to you and everyone. if you cant empathize and see how a walkout is smart, then do your research. SmArT mAN. Hope you had fun writing all that racist

It’s pretty disgusting that his property could be stripped from him like it was simply for words coming out of his mouth. Two things can be true at once. You shouldn’t get your property taken for words and what you believe can also be reprehensible.

well the nba teams are partners with one another, so they share liability. that's what makes this different than losing your house, and that's why they didn't go after Sterling's other assets
