Having owned/worn both Nicks and JK boots, I would really recommend you oil every 2-3 months. Not trying to come off snobby or anything, but it will get much longer life out of your boots! Not only that, but I can stand in water up to the top of the boots with no leaking/etc due to the regular oil treatment and amazing craftsmanship. JK has done a rebuild, a new build, and currently have a pair out for a resole; trying that honey sole myself this go around. Check out Pisgah Laces if you like Paracord, but don't love those rhino laces. When you get your resole done you can also talk to JK about a wedge to help with that uneven wear. Enjoy the boots!!

@@Francis-zv2nw I keep going back to Jk. They are a smaller company and I feel like they have a slight edge on quality/customer service. Not saying Nicks doesn’t, but JK has done 1 custom pair, a rebuild and a Resole for me.

Great video, if you're gonna get such a well made boot you should invest in a little bit of oil n grease. I'm sure they're thirsty.

For what those boots cost, you need cedar boot/shoe trees and a boot jack to protect your investment. Great review!

*I know this video is old, and maybe you have new boots by now or maybe not I don't know lol 😅! Conditioning them would help you a lot with the boots feeling much less stiff. It makes them much softer and supple, so that way your feet won't hurt as much. Something like Bick 4 conditioner would be totally fine. It also extends the life of the boots more. Because the more boots are kept dry with zero maintenance, the more prone they are to cracking, and might get holes from the dirt, etc. It is good you do wipe them down though! I do still suggest conditioning them so your feet will hurt less whenever you wear them. Thanks for the review! JK Boots are very solid and durable boots! They're very strong!*

Yeah I still have them and they new some serious work to get them back into wearable condition. They're a awesome boot for sure! I just neglected them for far too long! Totally my fault for sure. Been wearing some Thorogood's since the JK's and they've been doing well for me. Thanks for the tips and comment. I appreciate it!

It's important to dry them out before you wear them again. I've found the best way is to put them in front of a box fan. Dries them out in no time. There are a lot of comments here about using shoe trees. Those are fine for dress shoes, but they really aren't appropriate for heavy boots like these. The boots already have so much structure to them, they don't need the trees. Air is the best way to dry them, away from direct heat. I agree with the other comments about oiling. It really is a must and will preserve your investment. Only takes a couple of minutes.

The last part of your video was the best part (slipping into one & flexing those beasts). I watch alot of boot vids and no one shows that for some reason. I own several Wesco, White's, Nicks, Halls off eBay so no custom (don't need to) or new prices. My main thing is quality, already broke in and I'll admit I just love wearing boots. I've saved a shit ton of $$. eBay is an addiction. Somebody stop me!

Franks came from Nicks and Nicks came from Whites. Frank was a manager at Nicks and split off, and Nick was a manager at Whites and split off. Seems that JK was the only one to not come from Whites. I have a pair of Franks and Nicks and would put them on the same playing field with JK (I don't have a pair of JK boots FYI). I think either of those 3 (JK, Nicks, & Franks) would make you happy as they're at the top of the work boot game.

For me they took a bit to get use to with the steeper heel/toe angle. Not anything too uncomfortable, just a few weeks of daily use and everything was much better. I do remember wishing I had ordered up a half size to allow a larger more comfortable insole. Outside of that they were an awesome boot. Get into a regular cleaning process with them and you be good to go. I ignored mine far too long and they got hard as a rock on the lowers. Hope this helped man! 👍

If you have any questions just call them...truly the best customer service experience I've ever had. They'll take care of you! same for me above. I wear 11.5 in Nike or most tennis shoes. 11 in redwings and Anderson bean cowboys boots. I had to get a 10 narrow in JK. Brand new length was perfect. Width was stiff. Not tight but has broken is amazingly perfect like a glove.

I can’t believe you paid around 600 bucks for a pair of boots and you never grease or oil them!!! That’s like buying a Ferrari and then go off-roading with it and never have it maintained! Leather needs to be nourished and the better you do that the longer they will look good and the longer they last. Also, you should never wear the same pair of boots more than a day in a row because leather needs to be able to dry out. That’s why 2 pairs worn alternately will last 3 or 4 times as long as 2 pairs consecutively. In my opinion, if you go the custom boots road and fork out big bucks you should also respect the craftsmanship and the boots and take proper care of them! They looked so good when you first got them and now they look like shit! Yeah, your money, your boots, but Jesus! Pfff! Unbelievable! I hate it when people don’t take care of their shit!
