At about 70% of his singing, Kaufmann sounds like a baritone more that a tenor.

Spintos have darker voices and sound more baritonal. Well trained dramatic tenors are going go sound like baritones all the time. That's how it works. He isn't a lyrical tenor.

Ottima esecuzione bravissimo tenore però mi permetto da tenore Napoletano quale sono da ormai tanti anni visto i tuoi meravigliosi piani scuri io al tuo posto la seconda ripresa " core coor' ingrato ecc.e cc. l'avrei fatto a mezza voce, non forte come la prima ! Per il resto ottima vocalità scura che a me piace molto ottima interpretazione come la dizione Napoletana !

First off, two different voice types. Also it is the correct way to sing. Its not in the "throat", it is appogio singing. Firm pronation created with the air pressure supported from the sternum instead of the stomach (which is incorrect for singing). Lack of understanding of how the voices used to be train shows by simply calling it "sound in the throat". This technique efficiently uses the air and creates a more connected, stronger, and darker voice. In his interviews he talks about switching over to this style of singing, getting rid of the stupid nasal and light voice. A spinto who thought he was a lyric is finally singing like a spinto should is what youre hearing.
