The side kick is a long range weapon, no? If I’m using it then I’m in a position to not be reached with a cross or a jab and even if they do touch me with it I’m smashing my heel into their solar-plexus essentially shutting them down. Im not saying using (the long guard) lead hand out and rear hand up isn’t good, it is, but Ive used side kick all my life and unless I’m up against a 6’5 plus Giant I don’t get touched up when side kicking, especially the stepping or hopping version which puts my head back a bit more then a more upright version. Not criticizing nor critiquing, just waxing, good video 👊🏻

@@leroyhayes3251 Thanks for the comment! And excellent points! I agree on all accounts. I would add to be mindful that you may side kick at long range, but your opponent may not stay there, no? He may rush in as you’re kicking and could jam your kick or maybe he closes in and catches you leg or he moves to the side and you miss your kick or slide off him. Or what if he always moves back? If you put up a long guard/punch in punching range, when he moves back, he’ll now be in kicking range for your side kick. There are infinite possibilities in which you may find the long guard useful. Thanks again for the comment and insight! I can tell you definitely know your stuff! ☺️

@@jkdprocessappreciate the well thought out response, all good points for when and why you would want to use the long guard. 👊🏻
