A longer shuffle is also useful at times. Sometimes your sparring partner/opponent will either throw a long range attack ie leg/body kick or straight kick and you'll need to move out of the way pretty quickly

3:26 In Gary Lam Wing-Chun they teach us to take a step back more often than not. I’ve never heard of a Wing-Chun school saying never back up. We have OVER THE RIVER is taught quite a bit. Whoever said that is way off.

I thought that you were going to say that you proposed to her ;-) Great drill though. If you have good footwork , you are hard to hit or to dodge - Good guard and that's an addition - speed and power still more and if you are a good counter attacker, you're almost impossible to beat.

Have you ever considered collaborating with other KZbinrs? Metrolina Martial Arts or Hard2Hurt?

I'd like to see Sifu Jason and Sifu Alex Richter aka the Kung Fu Genius talk. Sifu Alex actually seems like a very down to Earth person.

That would be fun. Looks like those guys do some first rate stuff.

This biggest issue that I see with this is that it seems like you have to become comfortable being a switch hitter who performs well either Orthadox or Southpaw.

Wing chun is ambidextrous.

@@webherring Most People are not. You can probably count your hands the number of boxers that are truly great at Switch Hitting. Two names that come to mind immediately are Marvin Hagler and Terence Crawford. How many others?

@@combatsportlover6919 Don't forget Lomachenko. 🙂 But this is wing chun, not boxing. We don't have combos. Everything is powered by the centre mass and both sides are roughly the same power. We also use both hands at the same time in WC. Honestly, I can't say I have a preference which side I use for tan da, for example. It's powered by footwork and the feet are less dominant/non-dominant than the hands.

@@webherring Loma is a Converted Southpaw. He is a right handed southpaw but he rarely if ever fights from an orthadox position.

@@combatsportlover6919 OK fair point about Loma. Nonetheless, wc is practiced with both sides, just like BJJ would be.

Did wing Chun over 10 years. Don't waste your time instead learn boxing/thai/bjj etc. WC is a useful concept for intention/ sticky hands but for God sake don't spar with it unless you want to get knocked out fast.
