Had the luck to train in Montreal and St Hyacinte a few times while Sensei Steve Ubl was instructing. AMAZING AND UNEQUALED. I was many times "trampled" by the dude as well. Superb technique that all karate fan should aspire towards. THANKS TO SENSEI GUY BRODEUR FOR BRINGING HIM OUT!!!!!

How do you get training with sensei Steve ubl? I've tried looking him up and I can't find much,he's a really good instructor by the looks of him

That flow from technique to technique is very Kenpo like. Sensei Ubl is fantastic. Very refined. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to move like this at 70?

I bet that Sensei Scott is looking at this and thinking 'how best can I use this in my karate?' So this is 8 years ago. I believe I can already see development within HDKI to able to strike from various positions & not using conventional kamae. Of course any development is a mix of influences & ones own study plus trial and error. But I would wager Ulb Sensei has been influential at the higher end of the scale. Just my opinion of course.

a shame so good a karate man does not stick to karate rather than trying to implement Arkido in all his techniques which he does not get away with very well

Rick Hotton also studied Aikido. 🤔 I sometimes feel the same with Shotokan guys doing white crane inspired forms.. doesn't look or feel like White Crane anymore 😅. Good on them for trying though since I've been no good at learning them.

Is Arkido the art of building ARKS? I am 1000 years old and have never seen Arkido.
