I have 2 10w1 subs in a ported box and these subwoofers are freaking amazing......very clean tight controlled accurate bass.....and make no mistake about it the 300 watt rating is low.....however if you stay around 250-300 watts per these subs perform outstanding.

I have the jl w1 8inch also in a Qbomb box...fits nicely and it produces very clean tight smooth bass...bass doesn't overpower the music... so wanting more im stepping up to the 10 inch version since i like the sub so much.... dont wanna rattle everything.... i prefer SQ over SPL...

What kind of enclosure are you using? Considering only 150 RMS, the loudness and clarity in bass, is it a T-line enclosure?

That sounds great, man... clean & tight. If that is your amp fuse holder on top of the box you should put it under the hood. You should have it as close to the battery as practical. The ground should be terminated as _close_ to amp as possible. 🤙

That's a double fuse to connect another amp that's in right now. There's also another fuse in the engine bay. That box has dampers on the amplifier to prevent shock and also it can be removed quickly if the need arises. Disconnect a couple of wires and the box with everything built on it could be removed. Everything i did there has an underlying purpose that I didn't state in the description.

STEFAN CARIBBEAN T&A had two old JL 10w1’s in a custom dual ported box in my jeep running on a jl 250 amp... would knock my rearview mirror off and out beat my buddy’s 2 Memphis 12’s pushing over 1,200w. All while still remaining crisp and clean. I’m a jl man for life.

I like my builds in proper proportion with everything matching as best as I can but the mids gonna upgrade soon. The other car has jl c2 components with the jl 10 sub and its amazing when it comes to its sound quality

Do you think they will sound nice in an open air set up at the back of my rear deck?

I have no doubt that it will play really nice with that amount of cubic space because you'll basically be turning your trunk into a box but bare in mind that you won't be able to drive the full rms to it because you'll bottom out the speaker and damage it. You could try it but be sure to use as little gain on the amplifier as you can and dont over drive it and it should play nicely. Give me a feedback on its sound if you do it

@@caribbean_car_culture it’s about 50 long box, with 8 bottom wide and 6 1/2 wide top. The amp itself is 800 prob can do more. I don’t wanna blow them boys up lol I’ll do JL or sundown 8”

@@nep639 the jl would sound much smoother in the frequencies as there speakers on an sq level but for a bit more aggressive bass, the sundown would give you that, now if you go to the w3, they would sound a bit more aggressive like the equivalent sundown but there would be a bigger price gap as the sundown would be cheaper.

@@nep639 just set your gain properly and you would have nothing to worry about.. I have the same old school mtx monoblock amp that blows 2000rms subs in my car and I'm playing a tiny alphasonik 8" rated at 200 watts rms and it's still alive.. lol.. 😅 set your gain properly and you wouldn't have to worry..

It's a 4 ohm sub so it's probably getting 150 rms but it has the bass remote turned to 1/4 so it's not being overpowered at all

@@caribbean_car_culture I have the same amp but it's driving one of the 10inch XTR rated at 600watts RMS . Was always back and forth between going from the single 10 to two JL audio for better SQ and more cone area etc.

@@javedrahaman in a proper box, jl subs hit hard from the w0 and up.. I had one of the jl 10w0 and it sound so good I bought another, then I bought the w1 then a w3 and then I have the w7 and from my channel you could see I had a lot of subs. The jl subs are most impressive for giving the most flexibility frequency range, basically anything you want from them, they deliver..

At the ohms its wired to, I believe it's around 300rms but I have the gain backed down and the bass remote connected so we do t over drive it

@@caribbean_car_culture Awesome! Yea it's rated to 150 so keeping the gain down and listening for distortion is probably a really good idea. I'm also noticing that it's a ported box! Which I'm not sure if that allows you to push more watts through it without overheating.... anyways - just asking because I'm trying to get a feel for what I will build into my van. Since I'll be listening to music while I'm parked...I'm sure this sub will produce enough bass, especially in a quiet setting.

@@lulupokes it is ported and its rated 150 but as jl subs usually are, there underrated. I used a lot more power on a 10w0 to test the limits and it's still in perfect shape till this day. I had it playing for a while on my MTX 7801 monoblock and you'll never tell that its seen some serious power

What door Speakers are Running?

Eternity they are stock. I’m finding it difficult to change them at the moment because it plays really clean.. they don’t sound like usual stock speakers. Must be Yamaha made speakers or something because they play on the lines of sq. Only when the time comes, then I’ll change them for either JL, morel, focal or mb quart.

Around 1.2 cubic feet but the reason it looks so big is because it has a long folded port hidden inside something like what bose does with a small throat leading to a 3" opening
