I just finished my 19 ft camper frame to utility trailer conversion. It was a pain , but worth it. The box is 15 1/2 by 83 inches , lots of deck space. I put down 38 2x6x8 boards and made the sides out of 2x6 boards also. Made some homemade fenders out of scrap wood lol. It is functional. Good job on your build

Thanks for clarifying that it's ok to use bed frames! I have a 6'x14' galvanized boat trailer I bought for $200 that had a wooden frame around it. It was rotted all around so I took it all off and I've been wondering if bed frames would work to frame it. I'm hauling a mower and SxS with it, so nothing over around 1200 lbs. Great video!

About how much did it cost in materials? Unfortunately I don't have a welder and haven't welded in years. I am going to use 4x4 pressure treated cross bracing on my 20 ft trailer. Going to secure the cross bracing by drilling through the 4x4 and strapping it to the boat frame. After securing the cross bracing I will lag my angle iron around the outside edge of the 4x4 and figure out the best way to secure the flooring. Sides will be added at a later date hopefully. Limited budget right now. Had a guy offer to build a complete floor frame today out of 3 in angle iron, no wood or sides for 500.00 with materials. I passed.

It was about $230 for the wood, lights, and bolts

You should tack weld all of your items first before fully welding. Stitch welding is better for those long this runs like you did on the fenders and you should always grind down the rust and paint before welding and repainting. Good job tho.

Ideally u want your axle center at 60% back from the front of the deck. To give proper tongue weight and reduce sway. Enjoyed your video.
@jlistdiy3 жыл бұрын
It is split 60/40

Curious why did you shorten the tongue as much as you did? I’m starting a project similar to this and the boat trailer I have to work with has a long tongue so to speak.
@jlistdiy Жыл бұрын
A small trailer should have about 38 inch tounge give or take a couple of inches for this trailer I cut it at 38 inches and then added the coupler
