I have the exact same engine, and exact same problem. I really didn't feel like doing all this work to fix the problem so I decided to just try something out. Took the air filter out and while the engine was running, I sprayed "kleen-flo choke and carb kleen". Engine started to run smooth and seems to have solved the problem. Took me a minute or two. I just hope the fix will last. Will let you know. Took me a minute or two,

That's excellent! Great fix. It would depend on the level of goop in the carburetor. Glad you got it going again.. 😊

Excellent production - straightforward presentation. Tips re: locktited bolts - invaluable imho also the use of 4mm socket if torque spanner n/a. Thanks so much

I'm not a small engine repair kind of guy at all. I talked to my friend in MN who does work on small engines and explained the symptoms of my mower and he said the float was probably stuck. So, I watched your video and was able to take the carb off as shown and found my float was indeed stuck. My friend said that as the float raises it pushes a "needle" into an orifice to cut off the gas flow. I didn't see a needle when I took the bowl off and pulled the float assembly apart. I do however see a plastic plunger move up and down with the float. Has that replaced the needle, or did it fall out as I took the bowl off? Cuz there's no needle on my workbench and I can't see one in the assembly. Excellent video by the way!

HI ... that plunger is the needle... 😊. Sometimes they have a rubber tip and sometimes it's all metal with a rubber insert into the hole that it goes into... Either way it serves to cut off fuel as the float raises and puts pressure on it. Hope that helps...

Helpful for sure.the white float bowl piece refuses to come out of my float bowl.Also what does the solenoid in the float bowl do?

I think it cuts the fuel on and off... I've heard it called an anti-backfire solenoid as well... Try soaking the carburetor in some cleaner. That float bowl should come off without a lot of effort.
