Stop using PNG, and use EXR instead + a useful tip

Brilliant video! I've never noticed png dropping visual data before my current project. I'm rendering a scene with complex steam volumetrics over a transparent background. Png keeps flattening the tonal range horribly. OpenExr is the only format that seems to be able to preserve it properly. I was baffled by this before watching your video. Thank you for clearing it up! It sounds like it's going to be much better for compositing too. I'm definitely going to switch to exr for my render pipeline. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

5:07 The 3 outputs "DiffCol", "GlossCol" and "TransCol" don't have noise. By denoising them, you will lose a lot of details. Therefore, i would recommend placing the "Multiply" node behind the "Denoise" node. it really helps to preserve those fine details.

Glad I started using EXR files. Very useful to also export 16-bit DPX files for my HDR videos!

In fact since ILM release in open source in 2003 and since it's supported by ACES Color management, it was the master format for all compositing work in Nuke or After Effect , Fusion , Natron and Krita or Substance painter, this thing replace TGA or Tiff RLE file that was using before, PNG was only good as a final web delivery and can use alpha channel for great parallaxe effect on web page or 2D game but for video or high quality print not a good Idea.

have a problem recently, it seems the exr from blender 4.1.1 on MAC cannot be read by photoshop, anyone experiencing this issue??

오 굉장히 압축해서 잘 설명해 주셨네요.. VFX넘어가면 아직도 ACES 색공간이 종류가 여러개라 머리가 아픈데.. 영상 잘봤어용

안녕하세요 젤로님!! 3D애니메이션 창작에 매우 관심있는 홈스쿨하는 학생입니다! 3D 관련 하여 찾아보고 있던 중 젤로님의 영상을 접하게 되어 매우 새로운 배움을 발견 한 것 같아 벌써부터 새롭게 느껴져요.ㅎ 3D애니메이션 작업이 어떻게 시작되는지 여쭙고 싶습니다! (아직 뿌리도 못내린 새싹이라 질문수준이 낮은 점 양해부탁드려요ㅠ😅) 저는 영상편집과 개인 영화제작을 해왔고, 3D작업에 관심을 느껴 도전해보려고 imac을 구매하려고 하는데, imac으로도 작업이 가능한지, 블렌더(?)로도 모션이 가능한지, 그 과정이 궁금합니다!! (3D애니메이션 작업에 필요한 앱, 장치(?) 가 궁금해요!) 질문이 길어져버렸네요..!ㅎㅎ 답변 기다리겠습니다!~~^-^

저도exr과 텍스쳐는tiff로 사용하는데요, 혹시 영상으로 변환할때는 mov나 mp4중에 어떤걸 뽑는스타일 이신가요!?

중간과정에는 최대한 exr로 쓰고 한번은 프로젝트때 442 mov로 컴프 후 영상 편집용으로 뽑은적이 있지만 파이널은 거의 mp4로 합니다

블렌더를 사용하고 있진 않지만, 3ds max 운용자로써 지금까지 에프터이펙트 편집을 위해 RPF로 렌더하다가, 지금은 PNG로 하고 있는데 EXR에 대한 설명을 해주신걸 보니.. 라일리 브라운님의 5k 보고는 EXR로 갈아타야하나 싶긴 합니다. 그런데 EXR이 어도비 프로그램에 호환이 됬었는지는 아무래도 시험을 해봐야겠죵 되면 렌더방식을 바꾸고... 호환이 불가능할 경우 PNG로 계속 타야나하봅니다 쩝..

어도비가 exr 호환이 부족하다고는 많이 들었습니다 ㅠㅠ png 압축 정도를 줄이면 시간을 줄일 수 있을 것 같긴 하네요!
