Could be "Knöpfle", it is a bit like "Spätzle" which is a Swabean pasta dish. "Knöpfle" means "little button" because it is like a little lump, whereas "Spätzle" is longish. You can find pictures on the internet.

ab 14:00min: Flammlachs zu Weihnachten ist eine ganz feine Sache, aber nicht 2 Esslöffel voll für 12,50 Euro vom Weihnachtsmarkt. Hab das mal auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt am CentoO beobachtet was man da bekommt. Und am Bratwurststand muss man erstmal rechts und links in die Mülleimer schauen und dann entscheiden ob man da was kaufen will. Oftmals wird nur einmal in die Wurst reingebissen, und die landet direkt dort.

das hat rein gar nichts mit deutschem weihnachtsessen zu tun. das sind alles stände die auf jedem jahrmarkt und teilweise großen flohmärkten stehen. was hier im winter viel und oft gegessen wird ist schmalzgebäck. aber sowas wird bei eurer food tour natürlich nicht gezeigt. ihr solltet euren beitrag mal besser überdenken. ihr habt echt keinen plan was wir deutschen im winter essen. grüsse aus norddeutschland

I'm of German decent ... we grew up calling a dumpling I guess... it was simple just flour and egg and tiny little bit of water mixed together and then just clumps of it dropped in boiling water , cooked for 5 - 8 minutes and eaten like that , usually with butter, salt and pepper ... we also would put it in a boiled dinner .. anyhow , what I'm wondering ,, I'm not sure how to spell it.. but it would be pronounced ( ku 'nif 'lee ) I always assumed that was German for ?? dumpling ??? @JamesWest-iu4jx I am quite pleased that I could help you. Since you transcribed the pronunciation " ku'nif'lee" the Swiss word would be "Knöpfli" instead of "Knöpfle" which is the Swabian word for it. Both words mean "little button". They are often topped with grated cheese and very filling.
