Nice review, Jonathan! Was always curious about those horns.

Quite a bit like CarolBrass; they share the same valve body. I think this Titanium/Copper is good for projection, so it's a nice contrast to my Giuffredi, which is a thin brass bell - and is great for soloing and jazz.

Sweet looking horn. That deeper mouthpiece with that horn sounded great! Crazy with those screws in the bracing to switch things out.

Thanks, Rusty. I agree; the deep Reeves C2J sounds as good or better on this horn than any I've tried it with... It pleasantly surprised me! :)

Nice review Jon. These horns certainly look intriguing. Great tone and sound.

Thank you. :) It sounded good to me live, and the recording sounded good to me as well. Some horns seem to record better than others; this may be one of the ones that records better. The Shires Q10 was another; it sounded very good on recordings.

@@JonathanMilam1 - it would be nice if you could buy the components separately- to easily get a 2nd bell or leadpipe in a different material. Seems crazy to have to buy a 2nd horn to get that.
I think it's a pretty nice horn for the money. Impressive.

May I ask what mouthpiece you use?

Greetings. :) I use several GR mouthpieces. Often the GR64MS (a Medium cup but slightly shallow), and the GR64M-B (a Medium but with slightly more cup room). The GR pieces have really captivated me for most of the past year - I'm extremely impressed with their tone production.

How does this MAURIAT 700 compare to the B&S CHALLENGER 3137/1 ?
@JonathanMilam1 Жыл бұрын
Elide, the bell's will be similar size, both a '37' style, I think. I like this Mauriat a little better; the Titanium/Copper and leadpipe really project but give the tone some warmth. I like this horn!

This was a really nice trumpet! Not sure what P Mauriat is doing, but they discontinued this model before it was even known in the US. Real bummer. I sold this to a college student in Columbia, SC, and I was thrilled. He got a magnificent horn at a reallly great price. Kudos to him! :)
