Singing along as I am sobbing. I saw John just weeks before he left us. This music though is healing.

They sounded great, wonderful harmonies, beautifully intertwined voices and expert musicians backing them up. I especially enjoyed when John joined them, his clear, pure tenor sounded so lovely.

My mother introduced me to the trio and I have always adored John Denver. It still makes me cry to think he is gone and lost to us forever more. Thank goodness he left us with his music. As for the trio, one of the greatest things I have loved about them is their humor and sense of whimsy, but also their respect for social issues. I may be wrong but I don't see the same sort of humor and respect in today's musicians (for the most part).

During my first stent in Collage (62-65) I loved folk music and watched Hootenanny whenever I could. A few years later when I was in Viet Nam, some of the guys had a little band and rewrote some of the songs: I LAID AROUND AND PLAYED AROUND THIS OLD TOWN TO LONG became I LAID AROUND AND PLAYED AROUND BLACKHORSE BASECAMP TOO LONG and WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL became SOUTH XUAN LOC CATHEDRAL, By the time I got back to collage in 1968 the folk music craze was just about over. I grew up with the Chad Mitchell Trio, and later became a big fan of John, as well. Good folk music just draws great players together.

Was always a fan of folk music, Kingston Trio, Limeliters, and of course the Chad Mitchel Trio. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to attend any of their concerts. But a couple of years ago I had the honor to met Chad in my home town. Great person.

I had no idea that John Denver's history went back so far. Can't stop crying. I was so very fortunate to have seen him in concert - the last concert held at Olympia Stadium in Michigan, many, many years ago.

What you did was understandable. Chad was and is a tremendous talent. If I had not met John at that time I might have felt the same but to meet him was to know he someday would be superstar.

I was early fan of CMT and then at Cellar Door when John Deutschendorf joined them....DENVER and found he was an AF brat like ME. Too bad he died so young. Saw the CMT last year in Bethesda and they were sooooo fine. Give one shivers to hear their harmonies.

Interesting - the first song is Ian Tyson's "Four Strong Winds". It was the FIRST song of the 100's that he wrote (and continues to write). Recently rated in the top 6 most influential songs in Canadian history.

Just a fubulous song with great harmony..... oh the folk era of the late 50's & 60's just can't be beat ... The seekers with Judith Durham, Chad Mitchel, The New Christy Minstrels... just to name a few .... what an era, what a sound .... if only we still had it today.... John Denver ... you are truly a treasure and greatly missed, along with Judith Durham your music means so much to me....

A nice version of Ian Tyson's first and still most famous compositions. Even then there was the cowboy element hiding just below the surface.

When Chad Mitchell left and John Dusseldorf joined (Before he copped the named "Denver,") They were NEVER called the Chad Mitchell trio. The Chad was dropped, and they became "The Mitchell trio."

Yes, can you remember "Can't Wait Til You're Governor, Lurleen," "Either You're A Congressman or Not (Adam Clayton Powell)," the " I Vas Not A Nazi Polka" and Mike's solo of the song about Canada the name of which I could never remember but his singing of it I will never forget.

I don't know how in the world I never saw this till now (mid-2023). Why is it only two songs? At the very least I'd have wished to hear solos from all of them. Joe Frazier's performance of "Moon of Alabama" is a masterpiece, as is Chad's "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out." I never liked the Trio as much after Chad left, as John's voice, although strong and appealing, didn't blend with Mike's and Joe's voices as well as Chad's had. I saw the original Trio once before Chad left, and saw Chad perform solo three times (went to one show twice) after that, all while I was in high school. It still surprises me that Chad didn't make it as a solo performer - he was outstanding.
