great test rig did you use M8x 1mm pitch on top there ? would have been nice to see you take them both down to coil bind pretty substantial pressure upgrade both on the seat and over the nose

Are the normal NA 5L cams tge same as the NA 5L ZAS cams?? Is the ZAS engine the same 302hp as the non ZAS 5L?

Thanks 👍

No ZAS cams.have different opening and closing times then non zas

@@JMSpeedshop oh...? So is the ZAS engine less power/torque than a normal 5L. I should have known this already ....??
@JMSpeedshop3 ай бұрын
The power delivery should be the same . But the cam profile is different i think this has to do with the 2cyl per bank thet will be shut off So i think it has to do with intake and exhuast flow. O dont believe the powere delivery is different

Great info here. I have the Compcams springs installed and they showed a seat pressure of 98 lbs at their installed height. My installed height was .050" tighter so I would expect my seat pressure to be probably somewhere close to yours at just over 100-110 lbs. The Compcams retainers I am running are almost half the weight though compared to the stock retainers. I am curious the weight difference between the stock retainers and the kompressor retainers? It should perform at least as well as the kompressor engine given the same boost levels. Thanks for the great coverage!

Oke. Yes . If i have time i will remove 1 retainer again and get the weight difference

How are you cleaning the heads ? I found it therapeutic cleaning anything before reassembly during my m113 rebuild. Especially the hydraulic lifters . I ultrasonically cleaned them . I would do it for you for free ! After all I learned a lot from your rebuild also . Couldn’t have done it without you 🫡 . Also I seen you said the 430 valves are the same . That’s cool to know! . Are you doing a valve job or lapping them ?
@JMSpeedshop2 ай бұрын
Ar first 430 valves are smaller . My mistake. I clean it with cleaning ammonia it will desolve oil and other dirt pretty good. But it a mask is needed . It is a chemical offcourse
@JMSpeedshop2 ай бұрын
I will relap the valves by hand and do a vacuum test to conform the are sealing fully

Very interesting Johan. So the small turbo wasn't supplying enough air in high RPM and high-loads?
@JMSpeedshop3 ай бұрын
It will supply up to around 600hp.max is my expectation but the exhaust back pressure is already high . And will go up when the boost pressure is going up . So for what i want this turbo is to small and not the right fit for me . If you want say max 500hp.on pump fuel this is a good option

Your Videos are Superb! Love it. Have a question - can you make diy how to remove and install camshafts on M113 Engine. Complete job. I am going to install AMG cams on My M113, but can't decide make it myself, or go to workshop. If you help, it will be awesome!

I have does video online when i dismantled the engine the first time . But if is seperated in tear down and build up version
@JMSpeedshop3 ай бұрын
But when changing the heads i will do the same only removing the heads. To remove the heads you also need to removed the camshafts bearing bridge. And the your able to remove.the camshafts so end of this month beginning sept. I will do that job and will make a video that will cover this

Hello Johan, first of all thanks for the informative video. I started a big 190e project this month, a lot of chassis/body work to do because of rust holes, but i will build my own body kit, dashboard, etc., but i need some help when it comes to my decision and i hope you can give me some info. I have a chance to buy a complete w211 with the M113K engine, but i could also buy a cheap 5.0 M113 engine and convered it to supercharger or turbo. My target it max. 600 hp (maybe in couple of year more, but that should be enough at the beginning). What would you recommend, turbo conversion or supercharger, or just buy the M113k and use it in stock condition, maybe with a chip + exhaust headers? In case you recommend me the turbo conversion, what would i need to change? Connection rods and valve springs or do i also need to change camshafts? Hope you will find time to help me out with that, because i am chaning my decision about the engine almost every day😅. Best regards, Denis

Hello denis At first the w211 has a double oil sump what is not ideal for a swap in a w201 or w124. But can be swapped with for example w220 sump and oil pump. In base the 55 amg has stronger rods. And better cylinderheads with double springs. In the base i personally would choose a turbo over a compressor because of efficiëncy. But parts will become more expensive and if your goal is 600hp. This is possible with the oem compressor and a different pulley. Also the m113k has lower compression so on a 5.0 you need to run high octane fuel or E85 to go over 600hp. To go 600hp with a 5.0 you need a double springs is my opinion . I would also do different rods. But the are people running over 600 on a pretty much stock engine

@@JMSpeedshop Hello Johan, i just wanted to read your comment again and saw that my reply has not been posted. This is the 3 time in the last 3 weeks that this happend, so reply now again. First of all, thank you very much for your quick and informative reply. All what you wrote is good to know and now i really have to think what to do. I was and still thinking about to install a VW R32 engine and change to forged rods, pistons, etc., but it wouldnt be anymore that original as putting in a MB engine and i just love the sound of the V8. So you think that if i do turbo the 5.0 M113 engine i can leave the pistons stock, and just install forged rods and stronger springs? Shouldnt i need to lower the compression for about 600 hp? As i understand correctly, with E85 i dont need to do that, but maybe its better to have a bit more of a universal engine, just thinking about a situation where it will be difficult to get E85 but i also read its easy to mix it myself. Too less experience, but i will of course get it done, just difficult to choose the engine :D I want to also buy a Megasquirt standalone and digital dash, so currently i have a lot of planning to do. If i buy the W211 with the M113K engine, i will first leave it stock i think, but as you said, by changing pulley and injectors i can get pretty quickly more hp for low investment. Again, thank you for your help!
@JMSpeedshop2 ай бұрын
@denishent8744 you can lower compression by machining but you have to keep in mind that this will make the piston more weak. E85 is the best option i think . Oem pistons are pretty strong you can run more the 600hp. On them . My plan is to run more the 700hp on them . I would change rods if you go over 500hp. But there are people running over 600hp on stock Rods
@denishent87442 ай бұрын
@@JMSpeedshop that are good News, because the forged pistons are pretty expensive, but if I buy a standard m113 5.0 then I will buy the forget rods and stronger springs as you said, and then turbo to about 600 hp. Thanks again for you quick help!

@@JMSpeedshop Hello Johan, thanks again. I just ordered a M113 5.0 engine from a W220. I got a video and the engine seems to work very well, and i am thinking to build to turbocharger to it and get about 500 hp, which would be enough for the start. For the 500hp, what fuel injectors i should use and do i need to change the valve springs. I know you said its good to replace the rods and that is something that i would like to do, especially if i want to later have more power, but thats a things that i could upgrade late to keep the costs down a bit, due to the fact that i might install a M4 F82 rear subframe with the M4 Subframe and the M4 DCT gearbox that i would control with the MaxxECU (Racer). I know you wrote that some people running that engine over 600 hp on stock rods, but i think i will need a stronger fuel pump, injectors and is there anything else that i should upgrade? Thanks in advance. I am currently continue to watch all your videos of the M113 build and try to get as many infos i can get, by my situation is again a bit different:D. One more thing where you might give me a good info: I am not sure how much space i will have for the turbocharger, but the easiest way is to build the exhaust manifold a bit longer and put the turbocharger somewhere in front of the engine. DO you need that such exhaust lenght will affect the turbo response a lot? Ohh and one last question: What turbo would you recommend for 500 hp? Best regards, Denis.
