Although I have virtually stopped playing tabla myself(original teacher was also from the Farukkabad Gharana) I am still fascinated by this intricate and highly developed art that is Indian music.

Thank you for posting this! I had the good fortune to study with Guruji in 1977 when he taught at the Ali Akbar College of Music in Fairfax, CA. Prior to this I had studied for five years with Shankar Ghosh, so it was wonderful to learn from my teacher's teacher. Both great men and great musicians.

Thank you so much. Finally we have a sample documentary of Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh, who directly or indirectly taught music to all accomplished Bengali musicians of today. He was like the "Royal Bengal Tiger" of indian classical music. For younger musicians, He was the brilliant disciple of Ustad Masit Khan Saheb (Father of Ustad Keramatulla Khan) of Farukhabad Gharana. Awesome job in uploading

Used to be performed and accompanied by Sarangi. Dammed harmonium has no Meand to play gamaks. It was actually banned from A.I.R. for a while. But all the big names used it as it was easy to play and transport Portuguese brought it to India.
