You are so clever with the fan and copper tubing and the solar panel. This is the only rabbitry channel I've seen that's done this. It sure saves on the electric bill. Where do you learn this? I also saw the video with the computer fans... these are very inventive solutions.

Yea!! A jnull0 video! I lost a doe 3 years ago and I was devastated. For those who just use outdoor hutches...I say shade trees are worth their weight in gold. I had provided shade by tarp...but it caught the hot air and trapped it near the rabbits. I watched your older cool down video and added tile and ice. Haven't lost one since.

Hi John, been a while. A friend here in CT has rabbits, chicks, and a few 4 legged animals. He was doing the ice like you and wet towels that they can ly or walk on. But being his little barn a few feet from the house he tied into his air/heat system in the house and ran a duct about a foot underground so when the air is running they are cooler and heat in the winter. He said it doesn't cost any more seeing the thermostatic is in the house. I did the same thing to the dog house, I ran afoot underground from the top of the 6in pipe and about 12 feet to the dog house from our furnace, tied right into the plenum. The boys have a dog door into/out of the main house but sometimes one may want to be alone or sleep out.

Hi, It would be great to seperate the cages with only cage pieces so they can see each other. They are less stressful and happier that way, I live in the EU and recenlty we had discussions about it in CAP ( EU "common agricultural policy") and there's a good chance we'll adapt it and that will be the only way. Please if you can change those plastic things into cage pieces, even if they feel better just a little bit It worths it. I hope all is well, I wish happines and good health for you, family and for the animals. Sorry for the bad English.
@desertrose9845 жыл бұрын
we have tryed this and the moody does try to fight each other and bite each others noses,rabbits are very territorial! they are not happier this way and i cant take rabbits with chewed up fur and faces to show,thank you for your concern
@hilmermate3175 жыл бұрын
@@desertrose984 Where I worked they only used this method and they didn't hurt each other, what you could do if that happens is take 2 cage pieces with a small space inbetween. So they can see each other, they can go for a smell, but not actually reach others.
@hilmermate3175 жыл бұрын
@@desertrose984 Now I remember even when we had to move them from one place to the near other, we took 10-11 together in a smaller cage and a cart for a couple minutes and they haven't hurt each other either then.

So very wonderful to see you again. I really like the coil system on the fan.. Does Miss Mary also use the cooling fan on her show bunnies? My cat and Yorkie are both indoor pets. When JC and go on his walks in this weather, he loves ice cubes in his water bowl when we get back. That is till my sassy cat comes by and tries to steal them! She on the other hand does not like ice water at all.

Our neice (aged 14) has a rabbit and has just moved it outside. She did not have an outside cage till her dad built one. I'll pass on the tip of water rubbed on the ears. What I'm concerned about is that the cage is on the ground and not up off the ground. She reasons that this way the animal can feed on the fresh grass. Which would be a better choice ground level or up off the ground?
@desertrose9845 жыл бұрын
if the rabbit is not used to eating grass you could cause bloat by allowing it to eat grass without first starting slow and working it in over a couple weeks time,also the ground carries parasites and you will need to treat for cocci and worms a couple times a year
@twistedpost10664 жыл бұрын

Thanks John. This is some really good info that will come in handy out here in the upper Mojave desert. It's very, very dry here, with high drying winds that come across the desert. Plus it can get extremely hot! What breed do you think would do best in these conditions?

breeds with large ears,although desert heat is better then humid heat,you will get better cooling with a mister system,the evaporation will cool nicely
