My first boss was a Philippino lady and I imagine his mom talked like her and had her same mannerisms. She had a karaoke room at her house and she would make her kids sing. She would sing Lady in Red and give an Oscar worthy performance. Her name was Belen. Such good times!!!

Bruhh, my mom had me and my sister take music lessons. I learned the drums, my sister the guitar and literally whenever anyone of her friends/relatives/neighbors came over, she’d call us down and tell us to perform songs like we’re their personal live band. It always annoyed me so hard but I was so afraid of disappointing my mom so I always did it. 🤦🏻😂😂

filipino culture all about talent and competition lol my dad used to have a filipino brand karaoke machine where the microphone would analyze your voice and the screen would actually give you a score - so you know my family was hardcore about it. its also the majority of filipino television from what i can remember, just singing and talent shows (besides soap operas) lol.

I'm from the UK and I find this guy incredibly funny. Although I have never experienced the culture of the Philippines I can still relate to a lot of his jokes as well. For the ones I don't relate to, I still find really funny as they tend to work, like the vicks vaporub joke... It's still a funny story whether you relate to it or not. He is indeed very good :)

My mom made me learn piano and singing during elementary and she made me perform at every event! Id be ok for our events, but lots of times, she’d volunteer me for other people’s events, like someone else’s birthday or parties…I was not that good too! She’s the only one who thinks I’m good.

When I won a competition and was about to perform in front of the president for a charity event she took me out of the school performance. Didn't allow me to leave the house on the day of performance. Barred me from leaving the house. Can only imagine the courage I have to face the next day when school reopen. Everyone asked me from teachers to all different grade of school coming up to asked me what happened? 😞 The worst part of it all. My performance part was feature in the school newspaper, they wanted to feature me . Too my horror to this day when I think of the newspaper to see someone else...😞

This man truly is a god send when you need your spirits lifted. I've just discovered him and I have watched all 4 of his shows on Netflix. His wee Filipino Mammy sounds exactly like a Glaswegians Scottish Mammy or maybe mothering has a universal quality to it like a lot of things in our work. I can barely say that I was in choir in high school without someone, hopefully jokingly, says that eventually they're gonna get me to sing. Uh uh. Singing in a big group is a lot different from singing solo.
