What a girl, introduced to this heart wrenching lyricist about 36 years ago by a heartbreaker of my own, turned out she wasn't my own, she sent me a letter with the lyrics of 'The weakness in me' to explain. I had not heard of Joan Armatrading before that letter arrived and I suspect there are far too many all these years later who haven't and won't feel the emotion she sweeps over me. I have enjoyed being taken to the edge and back so many times since that letter arrived to a 17yr old boy. Thank you, hope you to see you on stage again one day.

I've several girlfriends express to me that my affection for Joan must come from a previous girlfriend, including my wife of 32 years. They were all wrong. I like Joan Armatrading's music on its own merits. Especially her earlier works. Rosie, Willow, Opportunity.

"Kind Words and a Real Good Heart" saw her play it live in like '83 at Berkeley Greek. That was an awesome show!

Never knew she made a video for this song -she's one of a kind! Like watching it for the first time -anyone old enough to remember MTV's first airing?

Sure, I remember that era. But I don't remember it from seeing it then, because my parents would not get cable TV. Great song and video!

@@bobdavis4848 I believe there's like a documentary about her, took her back to St. Kitts where I believe she's originally from. She's always been so unique, love her music. American talentless music industry finally pigeon-holed her as a blues musician. Darlin, she is her OWN SOUND, unlike anyone else.

@@bobdavis4848 Saw her live at Berkeley Greek Theater, think 1983 or 1984, promoting her album at that time, and she was fantastic, but by the time she made it to Japan on that tour, she had to take a break -hospitalized for exhaustion, if I remember.

What a great underplayed song by the great artist who brought us ' love and affection in 76 .Love that twangy guitar ,is it the great Duane Eddie ?
@bobdavis484810 ай бұрын
It's not Duane Eddy; it's either Chris Spedding or Hiram Bullock.

She’s so beautiful and talented. Wore my orange DMs for the first time the first time I saw her in Ulster Hall. Bunch of asshole women on a hen night singin along. So as is customary for me at gigs, I nearly got into a fight. Thank god it’s only always nearly. I moved seats.

2:11 is like the drums in Tom petty -dont come around here no more, and the opening guitar sounds like Eurhythmics -thorn in my side,or should I say their song's sounds likes parts from this as this was before

At 1:01, whoever is playing that Dwayne Eddie type guitar lick sounds pretty cool.I guess they couldn't get the real guy so they got a professional.
