It's very easy for the casual observer to view this footage and pass judgement by claiming Joan is "drunk." I am not disputing Joan may have drank on the flight, in fact, I am sure she did because she never fully conquered her fear of flying, and by 1968 she used alcohol as a means of soothing her nerves. However, as shown in many, many interviews of Joan, her condition in this footage is not typical of her usual demeanor. The difference is that she has two broken ankles and is obviously on heavy medication. So, to those who wish to pass sensationalist judgements, I would like to see a better person travel around the country honoring their business commitments while suffering from two broken ankles and taking pain medication. I doubt many would be able to conduct themselves better than Joan Crawford did here. Not only did Joan conduct herself extremely well considering the circumstances, but she refused to dishonor her commitments, despite her injuries and pain. That is why this woman is a legend.

Joan never would show weakness or complain; when she spoke of Christopher inferring he didn't write her much, I saw sadness; never accept she didn't love her adopted children and never forgot the one the mother took back.

The interviewer going on about her ankles was a bit annoying. Joan truly was a class act to the end. So grateful for your uploads.

Given she was on pain medication and just off of a flight, I think she was fantastic. She want to fulfil her commitments and she remained gracious. Even when the reporter annoyingly kept going on about her ankles. She could have easily stayed at home. But, the trooper she was, she didn’t want to let anyone down. What an amazing lady. Thank you for your channel, all you hard work in bringing us these things. For honouring Joan Crawford.

This is excellent quality Concluding Chapter of Crawford, as I recall the previous grainy version. Joan was a fantastic trouper, who obviously loved her work in film & for Pepsi. She was an inspiration with her zest for life & work!

It may not be typical of her usual appearances given the pain killers, but it shows her gracious humanity.

My God, this looks absolutely amazing! 👍🙏 I still DON'T think Joan was "loaded" to the point of being an intelligible. In my mind, given the circumstances of her pain and injuries, I feel that she was very sharp indeed.

Joan Crawford WAS Hollywood! Since she began in silents, SHE helped to create what a true Hollywood movie star is. ❤️

She looks so astoundingly pretty 😍😍😍😍 in spite of having to be in considerable pain !! Such a tough, tough actress and yet so sweet and caring to all her fans; she always put her fans first even ahead of her own well being. Tough and tenacious on the outside, but soft and tender on the inside; a secretly desperately lonely woman who never quite got or found the love she was looking for.

Amazing video quality! And the restoration of the parts that would skip makes such a difference. This was clearly not Joan's typical demeanor. Her vulnerability here makes me want to give her a hug. The reporter wanted to do a story about how "tough" Joan was. He was even telling her what to say. So annoying. Joan seemed genuinely proud of Christina for supporting herself, and worried about Christopher in Vietnam 😢 And I want to point out the male fan who asked for an autograph... He later makes sure Joan gets into the car safely. What a gentleman.

The days when arriving at an airport was a time to make a grand entrance and hold court, and that is exactly what she did. Old-time Hollywood glamor, that's how they did it.

I was at a VT B&B this past weekend and noticed on the bookshelf a memoir she had written that was published in 1971. I began reading and found it quite interesting. I didn’t know she was CEO of Pepsi from ‘71-‘73 and wanted to know more about this. Was she successful at this? I read she was “forcibly retired,” which made me curious about what happened.

They refer to this scene in the season finale of the show feud. The assistant Pauline talks about meeting Joan at LAX when she was just getting off of flight in a Pepto pink outfit and she was drunk. Then they going to some scenario where they reconnect.

Don't believe the BS in "Mommie Dearest". Joan Crawford was one of the most respected actresses in Hollywood. Her business sense with PepsiCo after the death of Al Steele was very highly regarded. My great uncle in California knew her in her prime and met her during WWII. He said she was absolutely a down-to-earth human being who really cared about other people. She gave a lot of her time to everyone she met. I was so saddened by her death in 1977. I got the bad news one day after school when I was 16 years old. While I did not know her personally, I believe all that my great uncle told about her. He was the accountant for legendary Greer Garson in Joan Crawford's heyday. Being in those circles, my uncle met many stars of the 40s snd 50s.

You can tell that it's struck a nerve when she mentioned christopher. There was so much hurt in her eyes. She had a way worse relationship with him than christina... With Christina there was some sort of reconciliation at the end. Christopher and her never had any such thing

Was Joan traveling by herself? Where was Mamacita?
@TheConcludingChapterofCrawford2 жыл бұрын
Mamacita was with her. She can be seen walking beside Joan at the 6:30 - 6:45 mark.
Hey for being on the good ole straight Codeine from the day plus probably a cocktail inflight I think she handled herself like the class-act she always was, albeit a tad lucid feeling little pain - but so what? Btw does anyone know who's interviewing her? Is it a local news station or something? Wow I was 9yo when this was recorded. Wonder what I was doing that day? Probably at my little elementary school down in San Diego where I live. 😁 😆 I just do not buy Christina's whole villainization of her, never have never will. She seemed quite the proud caring parent whilr talking about Christina and her acting accomplishments. Observe the wave of sadness when asked about Christopher. I've read and heard many accounts of how problematic he was on many levels and she tried very hard to keep helping him.

No - The film was "The Bastard" (1968) and Rita Hayworth was hired. I go into detail on this film production in the "Missed Opportunities" section of my website.
