I actually agree with Joan about listening to your partner. It was poorly put but being an active listener with any conversation is so important.

I agree. My husband commented once that whenever I ask him how his day was he instantly gets happier even if nothing happened that day.

Joan is an absolute trip. Despite her character flaws, I do love her for her sheer grit and will power. I will always wash my face in cold water because of her!

When my daughter was aged 10 she became obsessed with ‘whatever happened to baby jane’ that was nearly 30 years ago. Still loves it. Joan is so underrated. Joan’s best friend is iced water.

I love that movie. I also liked it at a young age, which might be weird hah.

Joan Crawford was a STAR with a career that modern actors would only dream of

In film and tv some actresses have it written into their contracts that wardrobe dept will use their personal clothing and they get paid to wear their own clothes bc it “saves on character wardrobe” or something. It’s a slick trick to have expensive clothes that pay for themselves and then they control what they’re wearing, which a lot of actors like to do. Morgan Fairchild does this, for example.

I actually don't think Joan's advice is crazy at all. I can get behind the logic of those tips. I try never to look at history through a modern lens. The outcome is skewed with our own biases and feelings of superiority over what we think is progress.

Amen!!! Obviously a wife should encourage and build up her husband. I don’t see why that got singled out as antiquated advice.

I enjoy Joan as an actress. It is funny though, a woman with four marriages, giving marriage advice, LOL. Of course, as you said, who knows why the marriages ended. Thank you again for your videos. I enjoy them very much!

Some of Joan's tips for life and taking care of oneself are timeless! However, her alcoholism aged her drastically in the 50s besides flying which drastically pulls the moisture from one's skin!

It really isn't that long ago that women gave so much importance to the happiness of men as the way to their own happiness

Because men were out grinding every day and killing themselves to pay the bills/mortgage. Women showed their appreciation by supporting his endeavors, cooking his favorite meals/treats and keeping up the house. This was a better arrangement for both parties because there weren't any birth control pills in those days.

I caught myself almost rolling my eyes to what she had to say, I saw her movie. She was a big front. All show for the cameras. I certainly don’t believe in that advice coming from a woman who married many times. I’m believe in tradition but I also believe in whatever works for you, is what’s best for you.. I just don’t think she was a genuine good hearted person. Thank you for sharing that with us! I love how you word everything you always do such an amazing job presenting celebrities lives!

I love your pretty dolls. I have about a dozen. Don't know what they may be called. The body seems to be made of bulsa wood. A few years ago,, they suddenly appeared at thrift stores. They were only a few dollars so l just bought them because they are so cute.

So much of the daughter's book has been disproved. Her two younger daughters both loved her and held her in respect. But i would never follow her relationship advice. As a man, I would find it incredibly claustrophobic! I prefer my wife, if i had one, to have a full life of her own and give me my space, as I would give space to her! Times have changed! Thank you for the video!

I feel like her wardrobe building advice doesn't really carry in the age of online shopping. If I find out an article of clothing doesn't work for me, its too late because I already bought it lol Edit: I know returns exist, but I order a fair amount of my clothes from overseas and international returns are more trouble then they're worth.

Joan Crawford didn't bring her own clothes to the film set in London because she was that picky or controlling about her wardrobe. She filmed some very low budget science fiction B-movies there late in her career, such as her last film, "Trog" (l97O). She furnished her own wardrobe because the filmakers provided very little if any & it was important to her to look her best, even in a bomb like Trog.
