"Mildred Pierce" was made in 1944, not 1940. Also, the male lead was Zachary Scott, not Randolph. Had it been Randy, we could understand what Veda and Mildred were cat fighting over. Great movie, Joan Crawford's best. She deserved that Oscar!

The movies of the 40's always had great supporting cast, these people were well seasoned actors and really made the lead actors shine .

The beach house was located at 26652 Latigo Shore Dr in Malibu and actually owned by director, Michael Curtiz. In January 1983, it collapsed into the ocean after heavy rains had caused the beach to erode.

I would like to give you a suggestion on another star from the golden age, Loretta Young, she was known to very nice person, but had a secret, she had a child by Clark Gable, out of wedlock and passed her daughter off as adopted. Keep up the great vlogs.

Good to see where that house was, Jordan. I can't believe the palm tree that was in the front of the house during the movie shoot. I know nothing of palm trees, but always look at how tall and spindly they are and wonder how they start out, NOW I KNOW! Red zones? That's new to me...never saw them anywhere around me in the bigger cities. Must be a California thing. Thank you for the vlog.....

Joan Crawford was a star of the first magnitude. Ann Blythe was excellent, Eve Arden is always great. Butterfly McQueen was funny - that's her real voice! "Mr. Albert Pierce". "Lottie, not so loud". "No?" "So exciting, just like my wedding day." Jack Carson is always like that. He seemed typical for the mid-40s. The corny lines, rough around the edges but trying to be a jack of all trades. I liked when Jack Carson grabs Veda at the opening of Mildred's restaurant, and tells her "Let's go"... I think he calls her Bobby Socks or Small Fry. OH! Eve Arden wrote a biography and I went to the Beverly Center to get mine autographed. I asked her if she would repeat a line from Mildred Pierce, and she asked me what the line was. I told her, and she turned her face away from me for a moment, then looked back, directly at me, and said, "Leave something on me, I might catch cold!" I cheered and thanked her, then she signed my book, "Leave something on me" - Eve Arden In the film, Zachary Scott came across as an old money douchebag trying to keep up appearances. I think he was too skinny and I couldn't see why someone like Mildred would find him attractive, particularly when she knew he was no good. When Mildred asked about all the bathing suits at the beach house, Monte said the belonged to his sisters, and Mildred replied, "And they seem to all be my size". And, later on, Mildred said "Sold. One Beragon". He told Veda he came from a long line of gypsy fortune tellers. lol.

In the film, there is an upstairs. Joan slaps Veda on the steps. So this wasn’t the greatest choice for the exterior house. It’s only one story.

It's a shame that Joan Crawford worked so hard and for so long in Hollywood only to be known as for Mommie Dearest. People, she was a good actress. Mildred Pierce is arguable her best. Sudden Fear, Possessed with Raymond Massey, so many others. Bette Davis wasnt crazy about her personally but she had no complaints about her professionally.

This may seem like a funny or weird question Jordan but do you typically ask the homeowners of these film locations if it’s okay for you to stand outside of their home while you narrate your vlog? Or is it purely an organic pursuit? Thanks for the vlogs and keep up the awesome work and content that you provide!

Nope. They don't have a choice by law.. otherwise there would be no Google street view. The law us that as long as I'm not on their property, and am standing on a sidewalk or the street, there is nothing they can do.. if anything, If i see someone I tell them what I'm doing and why. Usually they are interested, especially if it isn't something well known
