There was a time when Joan and Lita had not spoken to each other for years, so it was refreshing to see Joan being so complimentary toward Lita here.

one of the reasons why Joan chose not to participate in the edgeplay documentary, was her fear of mudslinging, and reopening up old beefs, Joan is extremely proud of the runaways, and what they accomplished, digging up old wounds, and hurling insults, was of nointerest to her. now that Joan's in the R&R hall of fame, let's get the runaways in!

It looks like Lita has changed a great deal. She doesn't seem to be the 'piss and vinager' she was in her younger years. I think loosing her kids to ex husband seems to have mellowed her out, grown up, so to speak. Her book is coming out soon, so we'll see what she has to say. But, I'm still a fan.

I love those ladies. Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Stevie Nicks, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Madonna and there are getting to be more and more women in music. I'm a widower. I watch lots of videos, and especially when there are closeups of the guitarist's fingers on the strings. I just recently started playing and people like Joan Jett and Lita Ford are just amazing. It's just cool trying to play, but if I could do as well as they do, I'd be a happy man. They have the coolest jobs in the world and they're good at it.
@RickKepple9 жыл бұрын
Oh gosh. Just ask Jim McAllister there. I started learning electric guitar when I was on morphine in May, 2008. Since getting out of the ICU in July, 2015, I play more Blues. I had to regain the use of my left hand and so I did more slides and it's kind of stuck. Now I can use more finger slides, hammer-on's, pull-off's, bend styles and I love the sustain. The song to learn for this week is Lynyrd Skynyrd's, The Battle of Curtis Loew, for a jam session on Friday night at my home where I live near Fort Leonard Wood in the Ozarks. The musicians who show up are sometimes old pros and sometimes raw beginners. We watch some music videos of various artists, start playing along with something and get our own groove that can go on for an hour or so. Lita Ford plays a version of, Close My Eyes Forever, on a doublenecker with Queensryche and it's about the speed of the tempo that I can play so far. She's very impressive to my military veteran friends. Thanks for asking.

The fact that most comments on here are about these women looking "older" than their age shows that sexism is alive and well. Have you seen Ac/dc, Tom Petty, Lemmy, Plant, Page, The Stones, etc? Do they look younger than their actual ages? Of course not. People praise their music not whether they look young or not.

i grew up on all genres and i always appreciated both the runaways, and heart. the deal with rock, is that there is sex appeal. but these women were better than just good looking. they were also great musicians, and innovators. they have influenced how i play, and tempered my tastes for sound in a wide range. from the rawness of the runaways' grinding rhythm chops and dirty solos, to the classical and flamenco styles riffs and leads of nancy wilson. they were right beside the big boys all the time, in my book.

@topixfromthetropix16744 жыл бұрын
The last time I saw Ann was at the US Festival back about 1982. She had really let herself go, she was struggling to get out of a port-a-potty backstage. I think the industry viewed her as a marketable commodity that had become less marketable. The industry thinks like that. I spent 26 years in the touring music business, I saw record companies tell really good bands they were too old for the record company to invest in them. Heart was the first big band to tour in winter,1983, up until that tour, normal tours booked from March to sometime before Christmas and shut down for winter. Prince's Purple Rain Tour was the first 12 truck tour to go out in winter, starting and rehearsing in Minnesota.

As a teenager in the 70’s I loved Heart and The Runaways. I never thought that there shouldn’t be women in rock music. They rocked, and I wondered why weren’t there more female rockers? I wonder the same thing today. The Wilson sisters are still rocking, as well as Joan Jett and Lita Ford, but there aren’t many others out there, except for maybe Lizzy Hale. The best all female band I know of today is Band-Maid from Japan, but they haven’t “broke” yet in America. It’s about time for another American, all-female rock band hit the scene and make it big

After the invention and perfecting of pitch correction devices, the marketability of quality vocals decreased. If the management company decides one quality singer and two sexy ladies who can be eye candy and sing thru pitch correction devices is more profitable for a tour, that's what will happen in most cases. My singing voice frightens small children and birds but I sound great with pitch correction, maybe next, they can invent a pitch correction device for Major League Baseball?
