It’s such a shame to me that Joan believed she was ugly. She was so beautiful and glamorous. Before the plastic surgery and everything 💜
@claylexander61715 ай бұрын
@@austyp78 i don't believe that she really thought that. It was her sense of 'self depreciating' humour. I think it takes a person who is really confident within themselves, to stand up there in front of thousands and let them laugh at you 😅

I remember taking my best friend to the airport, he was moving away and I knew we would never see each other again. I was so devastated, it was 2am and I stayed up all night, then suddenly I see the report on the news Sunday morning that Joan had passed away. Definitely a day I will never forget.

oh yeah come on stop with the grimness already. ten years without satire. and hundred years without science since einstein died and five hundred years without painting because da vinci died etc etc. joan would be the first to make fun of you because of how you are turning her into some superlative. life isn’t without its difficulties and we miss joan a lot nevertheless of course. but this irreplaceability lamenting and turning people into icons is just a symptom of our own traumatic clinging.

She grew up in the 60s when women were considered sexy only if they were curvy. This is why she held the belief she was ugly all her life. As a modern curvy woman who grew up in the 80s and was told she's ugly for her curves, I find this very confusing.
