At about 1 minute in she forgot what she was doing and used low notes and a little trill instead of higher coloratura, as she always did at that place.

Normally I don't care for coloratura soprano voices. All too often they sound shrill on the high notes. Sutherland is one on her own. Sheer brilliance.

she runs into slight trouble starting 1:02 which becomes more pronounced by 1:11. I thought 2:52 was spot on pitch-wise and actually interesting in how she starts.

Valerie ...yes it has been highlighted already. But look at the overall result . Very few opera singers can tackle this piece without any glitches in the process .

It is fast at the end but the first part is so chopped that the melodic line doesn’t resemble anything anymore. The orchestra even goes mute at one point.. i guess this is what she used to complain about when mentioning problems with the belcanto line/flow

This a spectacular display of vocal technique, a thrill to listen to ! But behind the fantastic singing lesson, where is Amina ? Nowhere. Dame Joan could be impersonating any nice girl round the corner. Is the vocal excitement enough ? Not to me. A pity, with such incredible resources !

Well I realize that doing it faster is more difficult but I don't find it more beautiful. For me Callas' version is infinitely more beautiful. Is it supposed to be this fast?

Juan Morales ...Cabalettas are supposed to be fast pieces ...I believe the lady did know what she was doing at the time. Conductor elected to perform this cabaletta fast and Madame Sutherland had no choice , buy to keep up with tempo

Juan Morales ...you may want to listen to a " slow " version of this piece sung by cecilia Bartoli in a modern version of La Sonambula. Then you'll see how good Sutherland's rendition was too.

This is superb singing, even her diction isn't as mushy as it usually is. (Her phrasing is lax and uninspired as always though) I love her in pieces like these. Way before her middle fell to pieces.

It's more at 1.12 to my ears, she goes off pitch for like less than a second to my ears and slides into the next note from there. She has a similar flub at 2.52 with that sloppy high note gliding out of focus.

Yes, very fast and impressive But this is just an acrobatic vocal display with some clumsy embellishments which affect the musical line. We still hear Joan, never Amina.
