I just love you and your videos! You are such a GREAT teacher! I love crafts of all kinds. My art strength is in large scale stained glass mosiac art. It is an extremely expensive hobby. Im sorry to say that I just happened to have fumbled onto your site by accident and you caught my attention quite quickly. I admire decoupage art!. I tried it once before and failed miserably and moved on. But once I saw you whip out the saran wrap and do your magic with it, the creative beast inside me awoke, to a new craft.. The excitment light came on ! And OMG! I finally figure out the missing piece to my failed decoupage journey. Suran wrap!!!!! Oh my gosh let me tell you, after watching one of your videos I was like I can this! And I did it! On a rock! And it turned out beautiful! It even brought a tear of satisfing joy to me and my husands eye, especially my husbands. My husband funds all my Christmas present projects. He was so excited, when I found a cheaper hobby for the holidays. Hes like let me get this straight you slap some glue on a napkin and then on a smooth surface and do something with suran wrap and call it a gift? He was flabbergast. Hes a happy man! Thank you so much for your outstanding time!

I’m late for seeing this tutorial. I hope you see this comment & question. First I want to tell you that you are my “go to” for any découpage questions. I’ve been a subscriber since the first tutorial I watched - sorry I don’t know how long. I appreciate you for taking time to really explain what you are doing, so we know what to do. You have given me so much confidence to do almost any découpage project. I was intimidated, about trying to découpage before seeing your tutorials. Now I have done many projects and I’m loving it. So thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us. Now my question…can I use a “heat gun”, that’s made for DIYS, instead of a blow dryer?
@JoanMarieDomino2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much for all the kind words! I would stick with the blow dryer for doing this technique. Thank you for watching and subscribing! Joan 💕

The crackle on this sign is pretty small. Much smaller and a I’m not sure you’d see it. Experiment with different size brushes and try taking the brush and go in all different directions. Good luck

Thanks for this great tutorial! Can you seal the napkin with a coat of decoupage?
@JoanMarieDomino3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen! You can add a few light sprays of clear sealant if you want. I don’t usually seal my projects that I crackle because it takes away for the crackle look. If it’s not going to be handled I don’t usually seal -Joan 🙂

Can you also use a heat gun to create the crackling or is that too hot?
@JoanMarieDomino2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend a heat gun they are too hot and not necessary for this technique. Thank you for asking me, very important question! 🙂 Joan

Know that I am very late, hope you receive this. One questian, must the glue be dry before we put the final layer of paint on or how long must I wait. By the way, love your presentation and thanks for this great tip.
@JoanMarieDomino3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leon! As I showed in the video I put the paint right over the glue while it’s wet so it will crackle immediately. You can wait for the glue to dry before you add the paint but it may be a day or two before you see the crackle! Thanks for watching and I’m glad you like my video! - Joan 🙂

Very nice. I related to the iron on crackle paint! Mine peeled right off!😂 So no need to mod podge the top?
@JoanMarieDomino7 ай бұрын
You don’t use the iron-on method for crackle paint
Hi! I don’t like putting a top coat on anything I crackle. I think it looks better without a sealant on top. Some crafters like to seal everything, I would use a matte finish if you want to seal -Joan

Hello what a great tutorial! my father was an old master in old painting techniques, before he passed away he gave me a transparent crackle glaze he mixed himself, and I only have a small amount left, and I never got to know the ingredients!💔 so I can’t mix it. Do you have any idea or tricks to make a transparent crackle glaze to put on top of paintings? To then use a a dark wax to fill the cracks if you know what I mean. I hope you’re doing well in these strange times. Bless you🙌
@JoanMarieDomino4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon! Your father sounds like he was an amazing man! There is a clear crackle medium that you can purchase. I have never used it but many artists do use it for mixed media. I’m sorry I do not know the name, try crackle finish medium. I have put dark wax on and it looks vintage. Good luck, I hope you find the crackle medium and I’d love to know what was in his crackle glaze! Stay well! - Joan 🙂

Instead of buying a wood circle, how about using old CDs, glue a piece of card stock paper on first, then decoupage the napkin to it?
