Job For A Cowboy's Doom EP was definitely a milestone for Deathcore as a genre. They were pioneers of Modern Deathcore by the use of pig squealing and the insane breakdowns. Even though they became a Death Metal band, I respect them for the impact they had and understood why they went in a more Death Metal direction.

I cannot be clear enough on how awesome and important these videos are to the KZbin Metal community. This is the first channel I’ve found that talks on this level consistently about Deathcore. Anyone can say whatever they want about the genre, but it brought a huge wave of metal and hardcore fans into the scene and gave it new life whether the older folks liked it or not. Being 30 years old now and watching break down the golden years of high school is amazing. 🖤

Such a beautiful comment ! That’s exactly why I’m doing all of this. Here I am, 31 years old , still wearing skinny jeans and recording heavy breakdowns , I owe it all to the amazing MySpace Deathcore Era , and all those amazing talented bands… they deserve the credit for what they accomplished and I want to tell their story in the best way possible 🤘🏻🔥

I completly agree. I'm 41 and remember when deathcore started getting bigger. It was huge for metal in general. It literally changed how i thought of what "heavy" could be and to this day it keeps pushing boundries.

So true, I was in high school in cave creek from 06-10. I remember so many local bands trying to capture lightning in a bottle like JFAC did with doom, it made for such an amazing experience, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I went to high school with a couple of guys from in the eyes of despair and last minute massacre,it was always fun to nerd out with them about deathcore.

This was actually my first experience with metal, like ever. I was 7, it was like 2014. My cousins loved bands like Suicide Silence, Carnifex, Emmure, and one day I come over there and I see the album downloaded on my cousins Ipod, and I ask him what it is. He then said "Oh, that's job for a cowboy. It's deathcore" I put on the first track that popped up, relinquished. I was never the same again.

As a guy who is a JFAC fan, I am glad to see people still didn't forget about them. And I am glad that someone FINALLY talked about the Entombment of a Machine MV, it's my most FAVOURITE MV of all time imo I also think that it's the best mv ever made. The whole 4:3 aspect ratio, the bad 140p quality and the fast paced editing gave that mundane-y video a massive adrenaline rush. Although I personally think that there alot of videos (whether music videos, yt videos or whatever) that tries to copy the editing style of that video but just fails miserably, I like to call those types of videos "Entombment of a Machine Camera" or "EOAMC" for short. BTW one more thing about when this video was originally posted on KZbin, I actually was one of those few people who saw it when it was officially released on KZbin, it was uploaded in 2008 (or somewhere around that era, can't remember the month and date) by a user named Rodrigo Ranval (not sure if he was involved with that video) but one day that video would completely be deleted. I have no idea why but that's what would happen.

Great video! Thanks for bringing some more recognition to a band that truly deserves it. You covered a lot of my high school concert experiences as an Arizona native. I have nothing but respect for JFAC going their own way after the deathcore era. The albums since Entombment of a Machine have slayed, and they seemed to follow their own musical integrity. They are like the complete opposite of a sellout band.

I feel what you are saying bro.. I been to hundreds of concerts in my 50 yrs and being a musician myself the band's aren't the problem it's the critics and pigeon holers that want to separate music and art. People need too keep a creative open mind to art and craft and put titles, labels, genre behind them it's holding down creativity with oppressionism

So cool you brought up Job For A Cowboy. I have a bit of what i feel is a cool story. I was a personal trainer at 24-hour Fitness on Camelback and 32nd I see this dude with gnarly gages and his friend that was very quiet. I said you guys into H.C. they simply said absolutely. Im going to leave one name out because this is true and i do not want ruin any of the postives of this band by what could be takin wrong by others who possibly might not have compassion or never experiencing true genuine addiction.. I handed them my I pod and asked you like any of these bands. Ironically i was listening to Job For A Cowboy. Jonny looks at his buddy and they said you know this band. I said yes. They said do you know us. I saud no. I truly didnt. It was Jonny and another band member. I felt pretty stupid honestly but anyways they asked if i could train them. I saud no doubt just come in when im off work and dont say im your trainer. Johnny really took it seriously and he put some size on. I was always felt proud to see the gains or goals he was making or any of my clients for that matter. I would always get free tickets and Johnny right before they went on stage would get his pump going before he went on stage. Sadly the other band member fell victim to addiction. Im not saying what kind of addiction, maybe it was video game addiction. J.F.A.C. or Johhny worked very hard to keeo that band going. It you notice every album has a different talented guitar player and even drummer, i think ? Well, they tried working with him, but he jacked most of their band equipment in storage and sold it. Hes not a bad dude its just addiction can take away postive descions because of impulse. He was obviously not with J.F.A.C. anymore. Anyways they are and always will be a great band. I lost contact with them but i sincerely wish them all nothing but kind words for them. Oh and Johnny hated squeals thats why he stopped them. I loved them. His band mate said dont bring up squeals to him i saud why ? That was what his band mate saud but not Johhny. I never brought up squeals and respected him by not asking Johhny

The Gloom EP in 2011 gets overlooked so much but they snuck breakdowns into at least two of the songs.

I was 15 when I discovered the Doom EP. I wasn't really into Deathcore at this time ( i liked the heaviness, but I missed cleverly written songs in the Genre. Which, to me, should come a few years later with bands like Carnifex around 2010). But man, I loved this EP. The songs had such a good flow, kinda reminding me of Morbid Angel in a strange way. It definetly was my gateway into the genre.

JFAC were my introduction to Deathcore, then Suicide Silence & Whitechapel. Never really saw myself as a Deathcore fan but god damn those bands mid-late 2000s were everything! I loved the direction JFAC took and it was a huge jump to make and made me enjoy Death Metal a hell of a lot more. I don't really dabble in much Deathcore anymore, mostly listen to Metalcore/Tech Death/Melodic Death Metal/Prog Metal (just as examples but listen to a lot of stuff lol) but I have been giving Infant Annihilator a listen just love how chaotic and melodic the music is but it also just makes sense, also laugh at the lyrics Dickie Allen comes up with. Really hope JFAC makes a return someday!

You’re absolutely right about saying you’re not the only one that thinks this era had some of the best performances. It is completely impossible to redo this era of music. It was so awesome it is just some thing that has been a thing of the past since around 2010 in my opinion.

I remember being like 14 and people hating on deathcore so much I started trying to be like the older dudes and gained this shitty elitist mentality that I liked death metal so much more even though I didn't understand how anyone could like it better than deathcore. Glad it's being appreciated.
