Hi everyone, this is a broad overview on how to use frameworks for open-ended questions. I really think this video is going to be super helpful for your success, good luck!!

Dear Jeff, the framework you've shared got me through multiple rounds of interviews and I am super grateful for that. But is it a negative thing to use the exact same framework over and over through out the interviews even though contexts would be different since hiring committee would notice it? If so, can you possibly cover a different framework that can be widely used just like the one you've introduced? Thank you so much for all your work!

Hong, great question. I like working with larger frameworks so when we get into the interview, we can switch the concepts in an out easily. You do not want to always use the same framework, you should have two or three. An operational/business framework, a technology framework, and a more collaborative framework.

Hi Jeff! I'm currently mid way through my "onsite" interviews with Google - being held on google meet due to covid, and split over a couple days. Your content has been a massive help in my prep! I have a question though - 2 of the interviewers asked me the same exact question. I answered it both times but I wasn't sure it was the right thing to do - should I have pointed it out and asked for a different one? Or does Google do it on purpose to see if I can improve my solution? Or just a coincidence? Just so I know what to do if it happens again. I don't want to waste an opportunity to present more varied examples to my interviewers. Many thanks in advance!

Mati, thank you for this question. Candidates typically don't know what to do when this happens because you are not supposed to know what to do. If it happens again, flag it! Say, I want to let you know that another interviewer already asked me that question, I am happy to answer it again, but I wanted to let you know. This is not intentional and should not happen. Good luck!

Jeff - how many people are usually competing for a job at Google after they get OK from a recruiter (at the hiring manager phase)? Is it 2-3 or more?
@jeffhsipepi

zekoomrkva, it really depends on the role, but typically more than 2-3, I would say for the more common roles, 7-10 will make it to at least the phone interview stage. What role are you interviewing for?

@@jeffhsipepi Program Mgr - sorry, did you mean 7-10 people will be sent to the hiring manager or contacted to do a phone interview with the recruiter?

@@zekoomrkva so there are actually a couple of answers to this question. First, whether or not a Hiring Manager reviews resumes before candidates enter the interview process is up to the relationship of the HM and the Recruiter. Ideally, the HM and Recruiter have built a trusting relationship where candidates are put into the interview process directly by the Recruiter. I found this to be the process more often than not. I would always target to get as many people into the interview process as possible, so typically, I would shoot for 7-10 people to at least have a phone interview, more if possible.

@@jeffhsipepi Thanks. 7-10 is really a lot of people to interview, and a lot of rejects too. Now, what I am seeing is the video interview with the hiring manager, I was under impression it’s not more than 3 candidates.
