Born in the late 60s here; my mother was a huge Shadow fan from the radio days with none other than Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston, she had some records which she played for me as a kid. When this came out I took my mom and a few others to see it, and we all had a grand time. Ma said she "felt just like a kid again."

I think what happened when the Shadow was fighting Khan and finally able to get control of that dagger is he finally accepted his darkness and focused both half's of himself to create balance needed to create psychokinesis. Khan had it because he not only accepted his darkness he reveled in it. While the Shadow's darkness was constantly fighting with his goodness making him unable to focus enough until he was close to death.
@Nagore63053 ай бұрын
This also explains how he was able to overwrite Khans control because he created perfect balance making him stronger while Khan didn't have it since he was all darkness

This is a fan theory of mine. I think that the Shadow is not really Cranston but a weaponized version of Yingko. Not a multiple personality per se. But that the Tulku taught Cranston how to use the Yingko persona to hone his esper abilities. So, the phurba can symbolize his internal conflict. So when he is finally able to control the phurba he has found balance, because he has embraced the fact that the Shadow is apart of him. But again that is just me.

Freaking criminally underrated! Such terrific movie should be given more recognition and justice it deserves. The Shadow,better known as Lamont Cranston, was once a patriot who fought for his country, but deemed expendable like any other ordinary soldiers. Unwilling to resort to his faith being strung by his nation as a puppet, he decided to forge his own destiny, and that path led him to a lavishly dark and evil life he enjoyed most, by killing people and running his opium/drug empire in the abandoned territories of the East, thus self proclaimed himself as the de facto ruler of his kingdom (but deep down , there's still good left in him, he only turned evil because he despises the disgusting human nature, which hypocrisy and lies are cruel, pretending to be the brutal killer happy warlord to cover his inner hatred, confusion, sadness and extreme anguish within his poor soul). The High Monk - Reverend Tulku saw bits of light left in Cranston, and he was fortunately kidnapped and forced back into the road to redemption. In order to redeem his true soul, he suppresses his underlying evil and controls it, using it against greater evil for the good of mankind; thus, becoming his alter ego known sinisterly as The Shadow who strikes great fear in the hearts of crime and evil! The Shadow was no extremely, extraordinarily powerful hero/antihero, nor was he a terrifically modern one so to speak; but, characters, story, and settings, the soundtracks - like this one is simply one of th e best and in my vocabulary, easily tops most sky high budgeted superhero blockbusters we have nowadays. I personally prefer this kind of superhero genre and classic, without much exaggerating effects and powers, although The Shadow was no Superman, but Darkly and Sinisterly, he fights crime and evil with his own respective methods and ways, which is already enough to prove and justify the coolness and greater power one could have and possibly, achieve! Love the Shadow and other similarly related heroes (to all you heroes of such type out there! You're not alone, I'll always support you!)

I dunno what is happening to Hollywood. As late as 30 years ago, the big screen was graced by men, handsome or ugly, virile or cowardly, but... men. And women were women. Not now. Now, their topmost priority seems to cram some LGBT stuff into the films they make, no matter if it fits, well... like in Brokeback Mountain, for instance, it or doesn't. And what comes out of it is often a piece of lackluster, cookie-cutter, if not downright neasiating, shit!
